  1. The reason the engine changes it's "tune" during parked regeneration is the ECM changes the injection timing and rate to provide unburned fuel in the exhaust stream to help the regeneration process the EGR valve does not open during regeneration. What did you find awful about adjusting the exhaust valves, Volvo has used those shims for years and has just recently gone to screws on the MP-8 and D-13 engines.

    I've never had a parked regen

    Guess I shouldn't said awful; wasn't hard; just had to get shims & measure & all; when all others I've worked on had the adjusting screws like the intake; injector & brake rocker arms had; didn't mean to offend anyone; just saying if you don't have the $1000.00 shim kit or access to 1 it can be a hassle; individual shims are bout $5 bucks a pc.

  2. Well after reading other post on here found that my truck needed injectors; so I finally did the r&r on injectors & cups; truck runs like a completely different truck; which it should for the price of injectors & tools for the job; wish someone could explain the exhaust valve clearance setting with the shims; seems awful; well I'll wait to see if there is a explanation; luckily found source to get the shims I needed to set them

  3. Those tools are expensive; I found a guy who has a shop & going to borrow them; but before I do this I took my truck to Mack to have them run all the tests the said they needed to do before knowing it was injector problem today & while waiting on my ride I went up in the truckers lounge upstairs with big picture windows looking over the shop; I watched a employee putting injector kit in a garbage truck he didn't waste anytime; cups were already out before I got to the (show) but didn't take but a second in each hole to clean with his battery gun; then he stuck cups in he did put something on sealing surface & sprayed lubricant on oring; put injector in & tightened with same battery gun & hit a lick with torque wrench; then put rockers on used same battery gun & torque wrench; must have come out with new update where no torque turn or degreeing or loosing off & redoing like I read; then installed valve cover & cranked; he forgot to fill it back up with anti-freeze so had to do that; then hooked computer to it for couple minutes; not long enough to put new calibrate codes in for injectors; & backed it outside

    Guess you don't have to run overhead on this new update either;

    Now I know for sure I'm going to do it myself;

    Sorry for the rant but just had to tell it

  4. Not many of those big dyno's out this side of the country. Bet it would be some $$ to get one for a few hours to test and tune. Most (all) shops don't what someone messing up a big buck piece of equipment to play around with big HP. I don't blame them ether. Last dyno my truck was on was to small and quit reading at 1100HP, don't know it it hurt the dyno but they did not test it further.

    If you got one in mind I will put it to work??

    Just curious; there were couple places around memphis that had them; but didn't think about how things have changed over the years; insurance & all other you mentioned; have to be a buddy deal; thought you could get showing of full fuel before you had all hp to the ground with one; just to get timing reading not to see how much hp you have

  5. With higher rpm under load.Thats the way it should be checked but again it hard to stay under the hood going down the road.

    Its not the rpm as much as how much the helix is turned on the plunger and that is only done by holding the load on it so the plunger goes into full fuel.

    I my self would like to know how much advance comes into it in full fuel.

    If you had access to a Chassis dyno could you do your tests

  6. SPN 1127 Intake Manifold Pressure

    FMI 18 Data valid but below normal operating range

    Basically low boost, its telling you something you already noticed.

    I would want to know the fuel and boost pressure while road testing. These can be monitored with a laptop. If hesitation occurs and fuel pressure stays the same, but boost drops, it could be the injectors. If hesitation occurs while fuel pressure drops, its probably a fuel restriction.

    No fuel, no boost.

    Thanks

    Bought this truck & noticed it had hesitation in it in a hard pull; it has gotten worse; it will steady miss at certain RPM sometimes; had conversation on here & probably think injecters need replaced but been trying to get through this peak season to have checked out good & changed if needed; had to go by Mack on ATC issue & talked to mechanic about miss; we road tested & he asked had it had all updates; told him dealer where I bought it was suppose to check & do them; well he said they didn't so he did them; noticed truck did better; noticed it had bout 5 or so lbs more boost seemed to pull harder but still had the miss; he thought could have fuel pressure related; told me to take lines loose at ecm cooler & blow through & check for trash; did & all looked good; truck had just been serviced but I still r&r fuel filters again; ran good for almost whole day; then back to way it was; today it through these codes & I noticed boost pressure back down 5lbs or so

    Any information would be greatly appreciated Thanks

  8. Was at the Mack place today getting some stuff & ask them about a radio for my truck ( mine the CD player not working good) & figured another factory unit would be easy with just plugging it up; they said around $125 bucks but after they looked it up it was over $600; said it goes through the computer; it's just an am/fm/cd/weather radio; figured that kind of money it would have a lifetime satalite one; does this sound right? Has anyone put a different type in? Any suggestions; Thanks

    Oh they said they had satalite radios but they were for older trucks; that doesn't make sense
