Heres some pics from today drove home 1 1/2 hours drove great oil pressure was at 80 PSI after the truck was warm running 60 MPH got home tried to shine her up lots of orange peel in the paint and some really good fiberglass repairs buffed it out and hit it with a coat of wax. Has had the rockers replaced at one time some minor rust holes but very small ones needs cab bushings and hood bumpers I think I can shim the top ones to make up for the wear.Im going to go online and source some bulk window channel felt needs a door striker on the passenger side where is the best place to get parts we have two mack dealers pretty close but they are pretty proud of their parts by the way they price them.

I have a couple things Im going to change on it it will get a set of dual chrome exhaust stacks I have a trade deal in the works with our head mechanic at work for the set on his personal mack for the muffler set up on mine. Im also going with a set of polished aluminum budd wheels on the front I will be saving everything I take off so if I decide to sell the truck down the road sometime it can be put back to original. This is only going to be a parade truck we do lots of them every year so some bling is required I see the frame was originally black where it didn't get painted under the cab I may just paint it red as it is or return it to factory black all things I will decide to do over the winter. Today after it gets to my place a complete cleaning of the interior is in the works as well as figuring out how to tackle the few rust spots that need attention I just wish I could have gotten it during the summer so I could work on it more. I may have to rent space in a heated shop this winter to do the paint and body work the hood and doors will be taken off so a proper paint job can be done to it the doors need to be realigned anyways they close tight but the door handle side just touches the gasket. As for the 237 in a long hood truck that old 71 RS700L I drove years ago was set up the same as this manual steering and a 237 hooked to a straight 5 speed pretty much an identical truck and superdog is correct now that I think about it most of Harry Kuhns R models had a plate on the glove box stating it was built for him

Its missing one of the RS700L emblems I am going to have to find one for it.
-
It has the cleanest engine compartment by far of all the trucks I looked over I couldn't buy any of the others until I was sure I wasn't going to get this one and it worked out for the better. The 1971 RS700L lowboy tractor I drove in the 80s had this truck custom built for John Yazel on the horn button as well as the R models Harry Kuhn had all read this truck custom built for Harry W. Kuhn..

Wonder what happened to the mixer trailers harry used to use on paving jobs.

I have a few things to do like new paint I figure I can repaint it in late spring tomorrow I will clean up the interior real good.

Paint is not original I think it might have been an off white I can see where the red on the door stops and the white takes over the interior is white too.after the state got done with me tax, title and DOC it was 8300.

That old chevy is a 74 bought it rustfree in Montana 10 miles south of the canadian border got really lucky a truck was coming down from Canada going right through the town it was in got it hauled here for 700 bucks I probably couldn't have drove there for that let alone back again. The exporters were at the auction today too they were buying all the semi tractors I told one guy the truck didn't have power steering he said where the truck was going to be sent he didn't care it was going to be sent to Africa I feel pretty good that I saved it from a slow death.

Waited for a month for this truck to come up for auction sat all day waiting for it to be auctioned off it got down to one guy and me after everyone else dropped off after 6K last guy dropped off at 7700. I have to go tomorrow and drive it home its an hour and a half from here it was a long day good thing was the auction did not have a buyers fee which is pretty rare today. The only things I saw that really need attention was a rear U-bolt was snapped off and the two ears the bumper bolts through were snapped off don't have a clue how Im going to fix that as its cast aluminum. I had some of these pictures posted before but didn't want to let out to much information I paid up for it because it was close and all others I saw were in need of body work or needed a full set of new tires this truck just needs new paint it runs and drives great.

That was my truck had her all chromed up center caps, moons and stainless lugnut covers every morning after I got to the pit the kozak cloth came out and all the dust from the night before came off. Stan bought all the chrome for me because I took good care of the truck fixed all the minor stuff myself those guys wont even change out a burnt out marker light they write them up so the mechanics have to do it. That truck was originally one of our straight trucks It was great has a mack thirteen speed in it hooked to a 350 and locking rear ends has a twenty thousand pound front axle and forty four thousand pound rears so it rode hard that pic must be from just before I put the chrome on it looks like I just got done polishing the front wheels they were chalk white from years of acid washings and concrete dust.

I drove an RB for welch for two years it was always the cleanest best taken care of R model in the gravel fleet until they put me in a loader this year its a shame to see it now I think it may have been washed once this year.

Well they are in the process of growing the government since the campaigner in chief became president they have to have lots of stupid rules to keep their buddies in enforcement busy to justify a paycheck.
-
You would be surprised at how light those fruehaufs are we had four steel ones and one aluminum quarter frame at Clearwater farms we used them all the time.
-
No the red one comes from way south of us I know who the original owner was because its engraved in the center cap of the steering wheel.
-
I noticed some weird things on some of their trucks some have newer interiors must be recabbed some have the frames painted but the rest is crappy looking slap on some newer parts and get premium money for them.
-
Don't forget the do gooder democrats that want to tax the farmer for the amount of gas produced by his cows farting.

That's the one I saw they said they would pull the engine and sell it off before they would drop their asking price I have been checking out several nice oil field trucks in texas the shipping may be a deal killer unless I can get a good buck for the winch and headache rack off the back.
-
Yes that is the one I know you search the truck paper too it was funny there was no pictures in the ad I asked if that was their final price and they said they would pull the engine and get their money out of it that way if they had to.
Bought an old dog today

I like the long hood but after 30 years I had forgotten how many turns of the wheel it takes to round a corner with out power steering.
