  1. Today's progress:

    1. Re-installed all the innards of the passenger door (panel/window, handles, vent window, etc.).

    2. Put on the driver's side mirror.

    3. Installed the air cleaner and exhaust.

    4. Installed the chrome strips on the hood.

    5. Worked on the horn base (freed up the adjustment screws, cleaned it, primed and painted it).

    6. Cleaned the windshield and rear window.

    7. Started it up for the first time in almost three months.

  2. Today's progress:

    1. Started taping.

    2. Started final sanding.

    3. While under the truck checking play in the PTO linkage, I noticed a clevis pin was badly worn. Replaced it. While there, noticed one of bolts was loose on the channel iron cross member that the fuel line between the tanks is attached to. Took it out, cleaned it up, put never seize on it, added a washer and put it back on tight.

    4. Installed the two defroster pieces on top of the dash.

    5. Sprayed rubber undercoating inside the doors where I had to grind off the old coating for welding patches.

Tomorrow we will finish final sanding and set up staging for painting the cab, which will happen on Thursday.

  3. Yesterday's progress:

    1. Replaced a missing bolt/nut combo on the hood support arms.

    2. Put bends in the PTO/dump levers to A) give the passenger more room, B) make the levers easier to reach from driver's seat, and C) avoid hitting the glove box cover when in the down position. These levers are really sweet now.

    3. Put a little more body filler on the cab corner to fill in some deep scratches from 40 grit paper. Sanded it down with 220 and 320. It's better now.

    4. Sealed a pinhole in the rear corner by the exhaust with weatherstripping adhesive on the inside. Paint will take care of the outside.

This coming week is prep week for painting the cab (tentatively) on Thursday.

  4. VERY popular topic, your progress is interesting many people, GREAT pictures and brutish, bad-ass tires! Goes to show just how much someone can accomplish when their heart and mind are into it. Thanks for the continuing updates. :thumb:

I was going through the thread again and came across this post from NY-B61. I'm fortunate that I had all winter to work on the truck, but I can tell you I still enjoy it immensely every day. Most days I'm bummed that I have to go home for supper! LOL.
