you could run the rack out if its a manual motor and put in some hotter injectors in . you would not want to build it to a factory spec 350 or 400 due to the fact there are low torque rise and you have a high torque rise motor and probley a 6 or 7 spd trans? I did have a Ch once that some one put in a e7 350 and it had a t-2060 and it did pull well.

I got same year and specs. other than a 427 3.70's are fine. If you plan on running it much over 70 it likes fuel. Sounds like you got some coming apart in the aux. box
-
3.876 been know to give issues off road due to the smaller gear size but its usually happens with trucks with a 6spd all the extra reduction in reverse takes them out
-
most those truck over there are heavy specs with like 4.56 gears? not exactly what triple diget trucks are made of
-
Mack made or maybe they still do a MP 8 with no emmisions for the Granite's in military use 550hp or something like that belived they was specd with Allisions and camleback
-
T ride was the best part of the VHD doesn't mack not offer its own walking beam air ride now? also I guess they still make mack beam.
-
yep most people still don't belive they made R models with button tuck interior or carpet floors.

Really? I've never seen a single-screw DM! Learn something new every day.
Got any pics or literature on a single? I'd sure like to see one.
wrecker co. south of pittsburg pa has one heavy fronts and 26k rear and stout bed on it I should took some pics of it. It would out lift a stretched out pete with a century bed and didn't even have stablizer legs

you check the ground breaker on the fire wall?

Guess what transmission this is........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lEYaTvvq4g
13spd fuller
-
depends on what your pulling and where 01 427 13spd fuller 3.70 short rubber 6.5 been the worst 7.7 the best pulling lowboy
-
I'm with the previous poster e9 and a t-2060 5.73 gears rare specs I only thought Mack would but a 18 or 12 spd behind it
-
having had both N-14 and E7's I would rather have the E7 N-14 has a better jake that's the only thing it would have over a tuned up manual E7

doesn't sound like rebuild time, sounds like a mechanic wanting to jerk the heads and look inside to me
-
sure would be nice if Mack sold glider kits
-
engine man. won't come clean as to how high of bio there motors will run on 10-50% should be no problem
-
what size is the 17.5 i have several lowboys that have them no real issues 235 17.5's are nice and about the size of a 10.00-15 contenial makes a 20 ply 215 17.5 if your going to be hauling heavy. I drag mine faster than 65mph too.

call crow truck parts in memphis, tn. they are a western star dealer and have a ton and I mean a ton of AC parts on the shelf for all application on road and off they can hook you up
-
I thought it took high horse power to do that job those C13 NAVI "COUGH" STAR "COUGH" motors pretty weak
-
Give me a new RD with a 350 and a 12 speed and I will be a happy guy, AC and a good seat is all I ask for.
only problem it takes 450 of todays hp to do what a old 350 would do back in the day

sounds like it needs hotter file or injectors. alot of people have the same problem with a AI motor. and they have to have lower gears 442 or 464 to pull well
-
its April 1st in europe about now isnt it

It wasn't meant as a personal comment in any way, shape or form. Just an observation that cab sizes and the lifestyle expectations of truckers have changed over the last 30 years. Look at it this way: at one time a telephone was considered a luxury. But times change.
Also, we could argue about professionalism in truck drivers all day long. Or not - I might agree with you. But professionalism doesn't have a whole heck of a lot to do with cab size.
BTW I do find it a bit disconcerting that you refer to old time truckers as "clean." I tend to think of cleanliness in professionals as a given. I've never heard any one say, "I just got a new lawyer/acountant/financial planner. (S)he's very clean and professional." Just sayin'. (And yes, I've been in enough truck stops to know that these days cleanliness is not a given in the trucking industry).
yes but not all of us have to run coast to coast pulling a box or skate board to make a living. you have any idea how useful a 70" condo and wide cab is out in the woods?

the volvo const. rental has two new Macks here with m drive . Holt is using a day cab CAT Truck

I do not see why a 460 would smoke more with a 427 file. stock they are the same internally.
