Went through this whole thing over 15 years ago. There are no major brand american made tub type truck tires anymore. I wanted highway tires and do not know what you use your truck for.

Specialty Tires of America does have 11.00-24ML and 12.00-24ML sizes listed and not ridiculously priced. Speed rating is 50MPH for these tires. I really do not know of any truck that runs these tire capable of 50MPH. You did not specify what you are using the truck for. Regional/Vocational use the ML tire would be fine. There are Mining tires that are offered in these sizes as well and have a higher load rating but speed rating is about 20MPH.

If you should fine Brand name tires they will be dated well over 10 years old and would you trust that old a tire on a commercial truck? The tires I was looking for were 10.00-22 at the time. Speed rating was 60-65MPH for highway use. Ceat in India was one of the only alternatives to China made Tyres, they spell it that way. Had to wait months for the Ceat's but they were round and are still on the truck. It's a hobby truck now and I would never consider running it loaded. The only 12.00-24 tube tires you may find are made in China now. The STA tires maybe made in China as well but it is your only option now. Around here there is only one or two places that will change split rim truck tires and it cost $$. Do places still do it by you?

  2. With all that is needed in a tank for you only a new one will work. Never seen a used tank without dents, or corrosion at least around the straps being used on a truck around Pennsylvania.

Alumitank can make you a new one and you get everything you want. They really do make a nice tank and do what ever you specify. The second set of tanks on my Superliner were made by them and are perfect.

Thanks For The Info I’m Buying All The Bearing On EBay Need Sleeve And O-Ring,Piston Rings And Headgasket Part #s Have Old Sleeve To Patch Up Want to Keep Original If I Have #s Might Be Able To Find Some Parts O- Rings Most Important Talk To Olson For Headgaskets

Darton Sleeves may be your best bet, they made custom sleeves for one of my engines that a piston failed . Total Seal may make rings. Headgaskets?? Hard to find 20 years ago, Good Luck. I would not worry about originality if any parts are available at all.

I Need To Rebuild 864 Mack V-8 Engine Parts Are Very Scarce Any Thing Interchangeable Or Any One Have Any Parts For Sale Thanks

Hi welcome to BMT see your a newbie. I would suggest to start a new post with a topic that you choose. It is hard to help you if your post is in someone else's that has nothing to do with you want to talk about. Plus it distracts from the topic.

I had a few 864's, 20 years ago and found that even then parts were hard to get and no one works on the rotary pumps anymore around here. When my B-755 was restored a 866 replaces the 864. Parts were available to rebuild the 865/866, back then. I don't think that would be a option now because of no parts for them as well. Maybe think of repowering with an E6. More torque, HP, reliability and parts are still available. Even a 237 would run circles around an 864.

There is a set of std rod bearings on Ebay for an 864 for some time now.

I just received a headliner from Quiet Ride and am trying to fit the pieces. Have nothing to go by since truck had no interior. These 3 pieces can't figure a place for.

Those sure do not look like anything for a B Model cab. Thing you need to call the supplier and ask them if they sent the right kit. Interior panels consist of a headliner and lower cab back panel that is about it.

  6. EZ Fix,

More than likely you purchased with a credit card for the full amount including the core charge and possibly shipping & tax. Dispute the charge with your CC company, state the transaction was not complete. That a required refund has not been issued even though you returned the core/part some 30 days ago. They will immediately reverse the full charge amount. Start an investigation and get a response from Summit without you. You will get the $300 returned but it may take up to 30 days. Let Summit deal with the CC Company.

  7. I normally do not keep taps on most everyone but the dogs and wife, kids are gone but still have Sunday dinner with us.

But Rob always had something to say on just about everything. Then just nothing, hope he didn't just up and die on us. :idunno:

  8. Guess that is None, but why post None in the Trucks for Sale section if there is None. Would it be right to just not post if there is None?

Come to think of it never heard of a None truck, interesting?? :loldude:

Well the truck is a 1964 B615, something like 700 made. Original motor was a END864 Thermodyne, that motor stopped and found a ENDTB 865 crate motor in surplus in the mid 90's made in 1-75.

I'll get some photo's up in the near future.

Hey Brian I would like to see how you dealt with the turbo, on account of the firewall being in the way.

Next thing is to get rid of the armstrong steering.

There would have to be a doghouse modification to a B-615 to get the clearance around the turbo. It was a tight fit to put a 866 Thermodyne in my B755. No mods but tight.

What did both of you do for the oil filters? The 865/866 standard twin spin on filters did not fit because of steering box location. I used the full flow remote Luberfinder and plumping off the retired 864.

For power steering the only thing that worked for me was the hydraulic control valve on the drag link and slave on the tie rod setup because of no room for anything else. Don't know if that setup is still available.

Need photos or they don't exist. 🙃

  10. Aftermarket R Model doors work and are the only new doors you will find unless there are a few forgotten in a warehouse somewhere. Even after market R doors are getting harder to get. They are just primed with no rust preventative measures. So the better you prep them before paint the longer they will last. As for fit it also depends on who is hanging them on your truck. A work truck will take less time that having a perfect fit on a restoration project.

When restoring my B-Model I did get new doors from Mack (25 years ago). There were bare metal and had dolly and hammer work to door seal and edges to fit properly.

Recently put a set of R doors on a truck, they are fine and do work. Will probably out last the rest of the cab. I got a few sets at that time.

If you are looking I still got a set of new in the box aftermarket R doors, $400 a door plus the ride.

Well if anyone can offer some basic info, I have a 865 with about 50K and would like to adjust the valves, knowing the firing order would really speed this up

That is a real low millage engine. Like a 1000 miles a year low.

There are plenty of E-9 engine manuals on Ebay. I have seen a few 865/866 manuals over time. Get an E-9 manual as it is the big brother to an 865. The E-9 has the same valve adjustment procedure with the addition of the cross-bridge you would not use anyway, 865's don't have them all else is the same. 865 (2valve),E-9 (4valve)

If you run high EGT with that little on your plate you may opening holes with a legitimate load.

That load should be a walk in the park even for a 2V E6. EGT's shouldn't even hit 900. To much fuel and not enough timing and air. You being a Tech know that black smoke is to much fuel and a lot more for the show and high EGT's. Injectors are matched to the supply of the pump and should be flowed to match the new setting on the pump. Turn it down, have a pump shop do it and reduce the EGT instead of countering with a bigger turbo. You will see a jump in power by properly setting a pump 10% over and 200-300 RPM's over on the governor and be good with that. A bigger turbo was a big issue, low end torque and boost is not there so drivability with a trailer with shifting suffer, been there done that myself.

Looks like that tractor has some mod's. Same principals work on truck engines. Certainly not going to get a full days work out of that tractor set-up for sled pulling.

Noticed the added step on the fuel tank looks solid mounted and low. Hate to see if it hooks on something and fuel goes everywhere from tearing a weld.

That R Model and International look Great by the way. :thumb:

  13. Changing pump setting, turbo, timing is a black art with Mack's. Most everyone says to leave everything stock. I certainly agree but if you are the owner/driver and understand that Mack put a lot of time and money into developing the engine you have changing it may cause catastrophic damage. That said I can not leave well enough alone to get more power out of most things and have messed with some of this stuff. Got amazing power and done damage to, pistons, liners, turbos, valves, heads, etc.

If you are low on cash do not do anything, 30psi boost is actually good for a 2V E6. By changing a stock turbo with a stock turbo what is to gain? To get more boost and have some tunability an after market turbo is needed. A Borg-Warner S400 turbo is a good start. Around 68-72mm and the smallest split exhaust housing. Maybe $1000. You will get 45-50psi boost, probable  blow head gaskets, scorch pistons, overheat, have bearing failure, etc. if your foot is in it to long but will pull like crazy. Reliability goes in the toilet if you push it to far.

  14. I got both left and right MH windshields around a year ago from Vangard Mack in Phoenix. They got a crate of 2 left and 2 right left. They had to order 3 sets from Mack when I got mine. More than likely they still have them. Think it was around $200 for a pair. Just get one from them and not have to buy more only issue maybe the shipping.

I would invest and I'm sure there are others, no one builds anything to customize Macks chrome do dads and crap mean nothing, but  custom interiors are the bomb, I believe you will look back at your hesitation and laugh when you are buried in back orders, if you need investors to cover start up and want silent partners say the word.

I'm not into do-dads or Whitney mail order ether. I do like chrome just not those big bumpers. I could do some nice things in stitching for interiors though. I don't do seats but can supply the stitched material to match the interior.

I am working on two companies to drum up work not related to interior kits. If one of them comes though I am going to take the plunge.
