I've looked at stuff from other places and had it added to my shopping cart. I didn't purchase at that time, and a few day later I get an email reminding me about the stuff I left in my cart and offered me a discount.
That's good to know.

A lot of the sellers mark up their shipping. I had a similar experience with a vendor in Wash state wanting to charge twice the purchase price for shipping a small electrical part. When asked they changed the charge to a USPS padded envelope that was less than half the original shipping price quoted.

Welcome and congratulations on your find. Great story. Your plan of attack sounds like a good one. Having car restoration experience qualifies for this project. The biggest difference with truck restoration is everything is bigger and heavier and your car tools are not big enough. Keep us posted.

Those buses were still in the double clutch era. No wonder it was so hard to get the gears changed.

I'm wondering about the shift connection. Is it air or mechanical? I remember riding on some of those old "pushers" and the driver having trouble with every shift.

You might try contacting John Chalmers in Cashtown PA. I purchased tie rod rebuild kits from him a couple years ago. I think he has been downsizing, but he may be able to help. His number is 717-334-8709. Good luck.
I got a pair of new tie rod ends from him. Saved the day.

That is a great story. Those old converted tow rigs were awesome and still are for that matter.

One more thing simple as it may be is the choke. Yes let us know what you find.

Insurance keeps a lot of people from retiring at 62. terry
You are right about that. It is a long haul from there to Medicare at 65. The Florida pictures look nice about now. We (in northern VA) have about 6" of snow and it is still coming for the rest of the day with predictions up to 10".

I had the same problem with tie rod ends for my '60 B but was lucky enough to find a new pair. Fortunately the king pins are OK. I have a new set of king pins Mack part #301SQ 45A. I'm not sure what they fit. The pin is a little over 6 1/2" and has bushings for upper and lower.

Sounds like the plugs you pulled were fouled. Did you check how strong the spark was when you replaced the plugs? I'd look at the ignition system first.
...and then be sure the fuel system is clean with fresh gas. Then run a can of SeaFoam through it. The other possibility is the valves could be sticking at start up.

I sold a duplex direct in operating condition for $200.
PS it weighted in at 800+#

I drove a truck for Giant 35 years and this truck was our parade ready, completely rebuilt show piece. I have driven it in the past, 673 with unishift. Giant made many truck showpieces in their shop for their drivers and shop. Unfortunately the company was bought out by a holding corp. and sold off everything and chopped the company up and sold most of the assets. Sad end to a good company. I wanted to buy this truck but didn't have the money then(new child) . Wish I could have it now but the owner is asking to much!
I remember Giant having the show trucks and seeing them at different events and promotions. I have several friends that worked their careers with Giant and it was always the "place to shop" until the company was sold. I don;t know anything about calliopes or how much they would add to the value of the unit but it is one nice truck & trailer.

Welcome. Beautiful units. You have the beginning of the procession which hopefully is way off in the future.
