  1. "Highway tractor" or "tractor"  (prime mover pulling a trailer(s), "straight truck" or "truck" (like a dump, roll off, cement mixer) around here anyway.

is there a screen in the PS res that could be blocked, starving the system?  Had a similar issue with a Volvo feed truck.  The steering would just "freeze" randomly.  I checked everything i could, turned out to be a little filter in the PS can.  Took it out, cleaned the screen and the can, reassembled and it was fine.

  2. We had a similar problem with the 89 RD.  The wipers would work, but when the switch was put to "park", the wipers would stop mid way.  Turned out to be the switch.

Not sure why they didnt get swapped to electric when all the work was done.....

  3. The rear light boxes have a 2" 2-LED marker on the side, and the front of the fender has a 4X2" LED "Fish Eye" marker/signal combo.

theres also DOT tape across the tops of the fenders, and there used to be a yellow reflector behind the lamp at the front, and a red reflector ahead of the side marker in the read light box.

Edit: on the Granite.  The RD doesnt have any side indicators, just little bullet marker lights under the tool boxes and the sides of the rear light boxes.

  4. Here's a few frame pics of the 89 RD before it was redone.  First two show the front frame with the E-6, theres a 20,000lbs steer axle under there.  The last two show the double frame in the rear.  I can't for the life of me remember if the double frame carries all the way to the front, of if it stops under the cab.  I'll double check tomorrow when I get to the site its parked at.

  5. Likely because both the rubber block suspensions mount via a cross member right in the centre of the tandem, with torque rods fore and aft, spreading the load better across the frame. easy to have a cross member--> Torque rod -->centre section --> torque rod -->cross member. Versus the AR2 with the mounts to the frame ahead, and both torque rods aft, placing all the stress behind the cross member.. best you could get is the mount, then both torque rods, then a cross member, leaving a large amount of un-reinforced frame to take the stress.

I hope that makes even 1/3 the sense it did in my head lol

  6. Its just telling you there's an electronic fault.  If its flashing, it could be that its inactive when you try to get the blink code.  But, as far as I know, it will still give you some kind of confirmation that there are no codes when the blink test is preformed.  Someone with more knowledge than I will be along shortly....

  7. i have blocks in both trucks...and while they are AWESOME in the muck, they ride like crap empty.....ive been bugging the boss since i found out about the AR2 to convert the Granite, for my comfort and to save the beating on the truck and the bins/equipment i haul.

after putting nearly 120,000$ into the RD, hes a bit gun-shy.....

2011 Granite has this, with Meritor Rears

1989 RD has this, on Mack Top-loaders.

Both can supposedly be converted to this:
