  1. years ago we used to deliver steel to a place in Richmond,Va. just off of Hull st. on Dock st. I'm not saying it was a bad neighborhood, but folks would always be across the street under the train tracks with fires burning in barrels any time of night you got there. I was driving a '77 f-model Mack, and the passenger side door wouldn't lock, so i'd always park on Hull street and get the passenger door right up against a light pole so it couldn't be opened more than a couple of inches.

  2. If someone were to turn over, or upset one of my trucks and it was attributed to complacency, or ignorance, they would have a lot more than insurance to be worried about. Their health would definately be a factor to be concerned with.

    "hello"

    " hello,Rob?"

    "yeah"

"uh...you know the R-model you loaned me-the one you just finished-"

    "yeah, what about it?"

"well,I was getting off the express way, minding my own bidness, and I took the ramp just a tad too fast-now I can't see anything outa the left mirror and the left turn signal fails to operate properly"

"#$%@ it, don't tell me you done turnt that *&%# over!!! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna-"

"oh no,nothing like that-you forgot to tighten the mirror bracket, and the turn signal must have a dead short, keeps blowing fuses"

    "hello...hello...Rob, you there?...hello-Rob?...hmmmm-must 've fainted...uh...bye"

  3. Anybody know when Mack started using different color steering wheels in the cabs? I've got a 72 R685 with a green wheel, a 73 RL797LST with a white steering wheel, a 77 R795 that has a brown steering wheel, and a 78 RL755LST with a black steering wheel. These are all factory Mack wheels.

Also, is there any way to discern when a cab was manufactured by numbers someplace?

    Thanks,

    Rob

    1.no

    2.yes

    ( just my 2 cents...you're welcome  )

  4. We'll Mack i'm gonna have to draft you for a march on Lafollette. Seems like Otherdog is gettin' a group together to march on me after his webcam quit workin'. I have enough moon pies, ramen noodles, beanie weines, and enough ammo to take out the national gaurd. Bring anything else you think you might need. I admitted i tore up the webcam, navy seals type stuff you know. Parker and Paxton are on 24hr watch so i'm good there, we're waiting on you guys to march on us we'll be ready.......

hey, it wasn't my idea! Paul started it!

  5. That bear looks confused to me, probably too many little silver bells, and too much pepper spray.

possibly- I saw that same warning sign, now I don't leave home without my bells, pepper spray, and 700 Remington 30-06.

  6. I've seen this before, but never a close-up. This is a Canadian built Hayes truck, with a grizzly about to eat the bulldog. At least I think he's about to eat him, kinda hard to tell...maybe he has something else in mind :o

  7. My Mack H67 has 2 Grover Products Company Air Horns, they are out of Los Angeles and that is about all the markings on the horns. About a 22 inch horn with a 6 inch opening, mounted on top of the cab. They are geting air but no sound from the horns. I took one off and took it apart and found a spring from the center of the back plate that rest on the diaphragm to be out of place, I could tell by the rust mark left on the diaphragm. Also on the other side of the diaphragm the horn barrel was screwed down against the diaphragm and left a circle mark. I repositioned the spring and backed out the barral so it was not touching the diapharm, connected it to a air hose and still no sound. I don't know how to work on air horns so any help would be most appricated. These horns have not worked in some time. Thanks, Double Diamond

about all I know is they have a lock nut and set screw on them to adjust the tone, otherwise if the diaphram is good and they don't have dirt dauber nests in them, I have no idea either.Glad I could help

  8. yeah- like the guy who bought a John Deere instead of the Komatsu dozer, because he wanted to buy American. Turned out the John Deere was made in China, only assembled in the U.S, while the Komatsu was made entirely in Dresser, Wisconsin. Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, and other companies might be foreign owned, but they do have plants that create lots of jobs here. China, on the other hand couldn't care less about us.

  9. I keep reading in the Bible about end times do you think there is something to that and what will it look like and how many of us will see it and how will it have to come around. This problem is not just the US but the world. glenn

Much of what's going on in the world right now is foretold in the Bible. I have felt for some time now that it's kinda coming down to that, but...who knows? "...but of that day and hour knoweth no man...

  10. I know lets discuss religion next. :pat:

OK-like most people, I might smoke, drink, or cuss. I used to go to church every Sunday, but I don't any more. But I believe in God, the Bible, and in our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ -like most people. I am certainly not afraid or ashamed to say it.
