I worked at a dealer when these trucks was still in production and when we pulled the engine we pulled the front off in a assy like this. You could have the fenders and rad off in 45 minites. The engine could be pulled then in less than two hours. Many people dont know this but the trans stays in the frame when the engine comes out.

I think I have a wiring diagram at work for the heated windshield on the granite. Hopefully I’ll remember to look tomorrow
Does the glass it self have wires in it?

Yes thats right for a fuel pump check but for checking pressure thats got a know problem only god knows how many i have seen that would hold that pressure but as soon as you load it and start to consume more fuel per hour a restriction or sucking air would drop the pressure.I think all manufactors of engine only give you the stactic pressure reading. Not long ago one of the guys that i work with had a power problem on his nack and it had pressure sitting here in the shop but i checked it under load and it would go to nothen.i found a big night crawling bug stuck in the primary fuel filter inlet fitting.

Ok, thanks. Is the mechanical a good thing or bad? Trying to get teed into fuel system now but gotta go pick up a fitting. I talked to a guy at Rochester diesel earlier and he said that if someone put that s400 on without upgrading the injectors that it would be sick. I told him I was gonna check fuel pressure first and if it was ok I would call him back and order a set of injectors.
The fuel pressure needs checked under a load.

You can use a gasket from a E6 or E7.The E6 and E7 has the intake and water manifold all made in one piece for all three ports.

One of them came in the shop a few years back with engine problems.I get the job and found it had a 8.3 cummins in it.Not long before that some one had replace the gears in the front.Maybe a cam and i found the cam gear had broken because some on had heated it til they was big blue spots on it.They could not get cam out for the front cab mount was restricting the cam from going forward enough to clear the mount.I just raised the front of the engine and the cam cam out.

I worked at mack in the mid 60s and the gold engine was a big thing here because of the power band being different. In about 67 cummins built a engine trying to be equal to the gold engine but could not.I think it was a NHC270HT.Freightliner pushed it some.

You have not enough room for the E9 engine in a CH600.Also a truck with two million miles on it should be retired for ever unless your like me and enjoy working on trucks and buying parts.

Speedometer drive
in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion

Back when we had a speedo shop here they would tell you to connect cable direct with adapter taken out of it.Drive ten miles by mileage markers and see how many miles and tenths speedo head was off. Then take them the adapter to them and they would repair.
