  1. Hey Freightrain, I know all those guys well. Carl is one of the guys that taught me how to run mixer. Bill Russo is a damn good mechanic that's taught me alot. They've all been good to me. I'm one of the youngest guys at Northstar, and Abel was gone from there when I got there a few years ago, but I sure remember that beautiful gold R-Model he had. You won't find an R haulin asphalt as nice as that one anywhere, and that is a fact!! I'll see you around. Jeff
  2. I agree that the aset is kind of gutless. It's amazing even just the difference in 2 years from my CL to my Granite. Even though the E-tech doesn't lug down like the 237's and 300's I learned to drive on, from a dead stop or pulling a good grade it will walk right past that aset. Talked to a guy the other day while getting parts that bought a new MP-7 brine truck, so far he said it's great on fuel and performance. I don't know I guess we'll see.
  3. I've seen you running around town, and I love seeing that old B.That picture doesn't do that truck justice. I haul for Northstar asphalt and Russo concrete in North Canton.Next time I see ou I'll give you a wave. Jeff
  4. I'm glad to see that i'm not the only one disgusted by that sissytruck company buying the best company that ever was. My grandpa would roll over in his grave if he knew what was going on. We all know what they did to Autocar, and i'm very afraid of what they're going to do to us. The only positive i've seen so far is that they have brought an overhead cam motor, which is a better design than what we had in some ways. Anyone that has a 99 to 01 e-tech that's had valvetrain trouble like I have knows what I'm talking about.
  5. Are you sure it's got a detroit? Good motor for on the highway only, but for anything else it is pretty much worthless. Kind of demeans the truck,no offense meant.
  6. I found an 84 R-model for sale for a good price with an E-6 2 valve. Other than changing the heads and cam would there be anything else I would have to change to switch to a 4 valve? Is it worth the time.
  7. You might have a scored O-ring on one of the injectors letting to much oil into the cylinder.
  8. Looked on the RD at the plant. Looks like there isn't much to keep the rain from running down the firewall. Next time it rains hard, look under the dash to see if there is water running down from a hole somewhere. There are alot of electronics under there that control just about everything that has to do with warning buzzers and all it takes is one drop to short stuff out.
  9. I had the same problem last summer on my CL. What happens is the water gets in between the cowel under the wipers where it meets up with the firewall. You Know what I mean, the plastic thing that drains the excess water away from the windshield. The water was getting past that and finding its way through a hole in the firewall and running down to my pressure switches. When it would rain hard, my low air buzzer would come on because the water would short out the pressure switch on that manifold by my feet. All I did was put a new bead of silicone on that cowel panel where it buts up to the firewall. I'm not sure if its the same on the RD, but I'll look on the mixer at the concrete plant I haul for, and see where it would get in on that, then I'll let you know. Jeff
  10. Thanks for the info guys, I put it on my calender. I can't wait.
  11. I'm new to this site, but not to bulldoggers. Are you guys talking about the bulldog roundup, and if so is that a pretty good show. I've been looking for some only shows to go to. I'm usually so busy poorin asphalt in the summer to remember to look for any. I'm tired of goin to shows and seein nothin but petes, kenworths, and freightliners. I love this site, and listening to all of the knowledge. Thanks for any help
  12. My CL has dual boxes on a 20k front. The only problem I"ve had is no matter how clean and tight the fittings are, when it gets cold in the winter they seep and drip down where the crossover lines run under the radiator and onto the concrete. Has done that since new no matter what ive tried. Sure as heck in the spring its fine again, but I usually jack it up and bleed it, and have never had any problems. Just found this site the other day and I love it. Its great listening to all of this knowledge.
