Chris,
That's awesome! Thanks for continuing this thread! I have a blog I started too "Save the General" but was slow on the updates. Let me get that up to speed first and then you can send me updates so I can post it. I couldn't be happier with the buyer.
Those door latch issue bothered me enough to know it should be fixed but I learned to live with it. You have a better workshop since mine was always outside.

I have a complete rebuilt 1956 330 c.i. 255 h.p. DeSoto Fire Dome Hemi and a MACK B model firetruck Hemi Bell Housing adapter I could be persuaded to trade for something.
One step at a time. But it would be a cool conversion. There's also a B61 rollback in PA that I would have interest in as well. Both b's are around the same price. I'm not close to doing anything though.

Well I do have my eye on a B30 wrecker that's been for sale for a while. I speak with the owner Tim on a regular basis. Once my business is in full swing and money is not as much of a worry I'm going to check it out. Hopefully before Macungie.

Well the end of an era has happened. The General sold yesterday. I actually sad it went but it did go to a good home in NY State. More importantly is that the new owner has a large garage to keep it out of the weather and it's going to live a retired life pulling a trailer of restored John Deere tractors to shows and probably going to bring it to some truck shows too.
I would be lying if I said I didn't shed a tear as I watched it roll on to the highway on the low boy when they left.

It has a Jake on it too I assume?
No Jake. I wish

I forgot to mention that the clutch brake is also brand new with under 100 miles on it.

Paul - Thanks for the tips. I want to get out and drive it one more time before it gets sold. I have a interested buyer from this site who is in PA. He sounds like the right buyer and more importantly I will hopefully get to see the truck finished. Its sad but my business is more important right now. I buy something else down the road once some steady money is flowing again.

Thanks Vlad. It's a strong running truck. Considering that was the 4-5 time I drove it without anyone teaching me not bad.
Ken, it sounds better in person but LOUD!

Randy,
You got that right. I'm also hoping it goes to a guy in the hobby, and not someone who will tear it up. My job was to rescue it. The next owner I'm hoping will to take it to that next level. If that happens, I'll be happy.

I think I know the former owner of your truck. Big Ed Wilburn. He drove a lowboy for a friend of mine. He lived in the house across from Ramtown-Greenville Road in the south end of Howell. He was a nice guy and a good driver. A very large black man. He told me when he retired he was going to pick up a day cab tractor and see if he could make a couple bucks with it. I believe he had been an owner operator before. If you think of selling that truck, I'd be interested. Ed was a really good guy. - Tom
Tom, I sent you a message with my phone number. I would love to talk to you. This was Eds old truck he bought from Best.

Thanks guys. Yeah it sucks but when I'm ready, I'm going look for a B61 or and R-Model after the business is cruising along.

With absolute regret I have to put the General up for sale. 6 Months ago my boss retired and I found myself unemployed. I started my own thing over the last 5 months and now I am officially a business. With this comes more responsibility and expenses. Unfortunately this means a few of the "extra" toys have to go. This being one of them. I am sad and sick in the stomach to put the General up for sale. My main goal was to get it road worthy and bring it to Macungie. I never got to take it to any show. Which is why the decision was made to put it up for sale.
The specs:
1984 GMC General 5-Star
Silver 8v92 Detroit Diesel
13-Speed Roadranger
12k Front Axle
38k Rear Axle
4.10 Gears
Rayco Suspension
Power Diverter
PTO and Wetline Kit
Power Steering
Factory A/C - Needs work
Air Ride Drivers Seat
AM/FM Radio
Extra Hood
New Fuel Pump in Sept 2015, 4 New Battery's in 2013, New Kysor Valve, New taillights, Clutch Brake also replaced less than 100 miles ago, Just serviced - filters, oil, lube, drive belts. etc. $Thousands invested! Runs like a beast.
Asking $8,500 obo
Parked in Farmingdale NJ (Monmouth Co)
I have videos on YouTube and a whole thread on this truck on the site as well.

I believe one of the rules for listing in the For Sale area is you must list a price.

Amado,
Welcome to BMT. Your English is better than some of the guys here. We love pictures so if you have any of the trucks you mentioned or ones you took of others in your country, post them. You will learn a lot here, as well as things maybe not so good. Plus we love Superliners here.

My wife got us a special Macungie rate at the Windgate at Wyndham. She is going to set one up for next year ahead of time if you guys want to stay up in the area. It's a very nice hotel only 5 miles from the park. If I remember correctly there were around 750 trucks that came last year. I think this year there were still 500-600 trucks that showed, even with the bad weather.

Barry, I found your set up, took at look. Sorry I didn't buy anything. Nothing jumped out at me that I needed/wanted. When I buy a Mack, that will change.
-
For a toy I'd use a Ram /Cummins 5.9 and the auto trans.
That is exactly the set up I thought of when I looked at this. Fun truck to pull a trailer to swapmeets and events.
