  1. I have a similar "gizmo" like that on my B. It's plumbed off the quick release valve(I think?) I need to take another look. Mine doesn't have a barb on it though. Just a single line coming to it.

I've always wondered what it was for. Don't think there was any part no's on it either.

  2. Tapered will fall out pretty easy...been there! Took longer to get the tools out then knock the pins out of my B.

Straight pins............well, if they are like my Ford trucks....get ready to work a few days!

  3. I think mine is way beyond worn out? LOL!!

Running down the road it's not bad, but let it pull against it down a long grade and it sounds pretty nasty...clunk'n and bang'n and rattl'n.

Lucas kinda took up some of the slack...but it still rattles pretty bad after a long road trip(idle in neutral). It doesn't pop out of gears(except 2nd on coast side) but don't use it often enough to worry about it.

Like to replace it...but just haven't got my hands on the right one yet.

  4. I put all new flex lines on my truck from the get go. Most looked pretty old and I didn't want the same demise somewhere on a dark road! I did miss an oil line and it blew on the way to track one day. Lordy what a mess that was....all down the sides of the truck and trailer..>YUK!

Borrowed some line from track owner to patch it up and then put new on it when I got home.

I've already put a separate fuel/water separator on truck to help out(screw on type).

I've always wondered about my inj pump also. Everything looks pretty original, including all the steel lines and I've wondered about doing a PM on it and just get it all redone to eliminate chances? But it runs so well, I hate to screw with it.

  5. I'd place a guess around 3/4" slack in the middle of belt? Something like that.

I replaced mine and snugged it up, just like on a car. Not too tight, not too loose. Don't want to wipe out water pump bearings. I don't think motor can rev quick enough to actually slip the belt? I've never had any issues.

  6. I put a few thousand on mine every year. I change the oil and filters every spring, do a grease job and make sure everything looks good.

I've put over 10K miles on it so far and not any major breakdown issues yet. A few simple snafu's, but always made it to my destination which could be 50 to 600 miles away.

Note to self: When parking on an side incline, ALWAYS shut the fuel balance tube valve OFF so fuel does not drain to passenger tank and thus leaving NONE to run on LOL!!! Live and learn....it takes near 1/2 hour for fuel to slowlyyyyyy drain back over to drivers tank where pickup is located.

  7. I still have most of my Tonka trucks. I was not the type to destroy them, so they are used and a bit rusty, but still there. Some were Nylint also. I have the large twin boom wrecker, the hook/ladder fire truck, clam shell bucket, excavator, I have the 60's or 70's Ford dumptruck, plus a few others .Need to get them out and clean them up someday.

A local pizza joint had a display out front that included a B model ladder truck! Couldn't get the owner to give it up though. It was his growing up(still really nice shape).

  8. I have to laugh at some of the guys/kids at work. I show up in one of my numerous hotrods and such. They bitch and complain and then wonder why they don't have squat. Well, since you drink or smoke your paycheck away....it don't leave much else!

My mom always complained when I was young about my habits(car related). She always gave up when I told her I could be drinking my money away and have nothing to show for it.

Keep a clear head, find friends with similiar interests(or a club) and like said...get a hobby. Even if it's collecting truck pictures, it's a start. Work towards a goal! It will be much more satisfying then seeing if you can finish a 12 pack and still walk?

  9. If you put radials tires on your B, it will steer like a dream!! I changed over from bias ply and it can go lock-to-lock sitting still. Not with one finger, but can be done. With ol bias tires, it couldn't be moved without moving truck forward/backwards.

I have thought about air set up, since I don't want to go thru the hassle of converting steering over. Don't want to spend the money either way actually LOL!! Guess I'll just keep with my portable exercise machine..LOL!!
