I can't tell in the pictures which one does what but one of those levers controls the jaw clutch which allows you to free spool line off of the drum the other controls the band brake on the drum which appears to be missing also that mounting configuration on the end opposite the gear housing looks strange to me

I've got a two stick six speed in my B-615 made a set of mounts to bolt on bell housing I think I had to move one hole in the floorboard was all

Sorry to see this has happened makes one stop and think what could go wrong doing something that a lot of us think of as a routine task glad you fared as good as you did could have been much worse I also wish you a quick and complete recovery

Don't know if they still do it or not but years ago the local Mack dealer here would pay guys to go out to the factory to pick up new trucks and drive them back a friend of mine done it several times maybe you could contract to your dealer and go get your truck

depends how they are geared it takes more than raw horsepower to have a truck that pulls good

Do any of those western Rs have the one piece grill and AC condenser

I can't remember they are either under the valve cover or on the intake side of the head most noticeable difference is the shape of the valve cover itself

Mack diesels were positive ground until the mid-seventies then they were changed to negative but look close it could have been changed especially if it has been changed from generator to alternator
