I would not bother putting a 1241 behind a E-9 with a 12 speed I used to drive on with 4.17 rear ratio it would run a lot faster than 60 mph and would idle through parts in soft ground

The way I understand things on the American trucks you had what started out as the western models made in California the RS/RL 600 and the RS/RL 700 every 600 that I have ever seen had six cylinder Mack engines the 700 could have six cylinder Mack V-8 Mack Cat Cummins or Detriot the Valueliner badge started on the 600 series when production on the 700 stopped and the Superliner started

Are you sure it is not a fuller aux I used to drive a 74 RS-700 with a 4 speed fuller and it shifted as you described

I am currently driving a 2013 with 8868.8 hours and 120704.6 miles both are correct I use pto pump to load and unload both hrs and miles multiplied by three gets in the ballpark with your truck

My guess would be bearing cage also when looking for the source don't forget their is a remote possibility it could be part of a wheel bearing

Mike when I first got my B-615 it sat for an extended period of time with less than full steel fuel tanks lots of stopped up fuel filters full of rust also had problems with the transfer pump
