ATHS is sponsoring / promoting a trip to Australia in August 2015. One of the stops will be a visit to Tony's collection as well as the big show in Alice Springs.

There is some rough information on the ATHS site in a topic titled " Its on. a tour of Down Under". There is supposed to be more details in the May / June issue of WOT and the travel agent will be at the ATHS booth in Springfield MO. My wife and I are planning on going.

That B Model is owned by James Suttles an ex Matlack fleet owner operator, originally from Greenville SC and Later in Demopolis AL

Was the picture of the R model fleet taken at their terminal on Rt 322 in Swedesboro NJ?.

In the same milk tanker field was Dairyman's League who also ran a mixed fleet of B model Macks with their Brockways.

Another trick is to put a bottle jack under the breaker bar and add some truck weight to it and leave it sit that way as the solvent mixture in the cylinders works.

I am 40 mile south of Greenville SC. Got about 6 inches of snow and sleet yesterday ( Wednesday) here are a couple of pictures of the state road (Yankee level =major county road) in front of my house taken at Noon on Thursday. Our highway department is operated by Mother Nature!! She put it there she will take it away!!

I am thinking the New England Motor Frt terminal in Leighton PA had a B model painted with the stars and Stripes???

Sorry, No pictures. I was born and raised in Brockway country. Drove a mid 60's B-70, 707, quadplex, S/A dump with a V plow and wing a few times but was not my regular truck. The first Mack I drove for any amount of time was a 1970 Matlack R-600 237 maxidyne with the 5 speed.

Your picture in the earlier post is definitely of an early 50's Fageol - Twin Coach tractor confirmed by Jeff the What Am I guy on Just Old Trucks. If you look at the picture of the moving vans close you will see some of the inset windshields. Here is a picture of the Denver Chicago one from the mid 50's. Yes Fageol did use IH running gear in most of them.

Fagoel did make a COE on the IH chassis for D-C trucking in the 50's with the 549 Gas burner in it. I do not have a picture in my collection to post of it.

The picture you posted is not one of them due to the recessed windshield tops and door hinges being too far forward. But it still might have some Fagoel origins???

AS stated above it is a lot of seperate things all taken together. In my case I just sold both of my big trucks as my children do not have the space to store them (zoning laws) or the ability to operate them as their education has sent them in other directions.

Definitely the cost of fuel, food, and motels has limited the participation at large shows, or further away shows, by many of us on retirement incomes.

As well as the costs of presenting as show. Our local ATHS chapter is piggybacking with the local farm tractor clubs, to create a combined show, as it spreads out the cost and involves more people for the volunteer work necessary to put on a show.

Quite possible.. Don Chew in Colorado has a 1917 FWD painted and dresses as a military vehicle which he shows as well as taking it on the 2009 reenactment of Eisenhower's 1919 cross county convoy.
