    Thanks for the pictures..

Glad to hear my old time directions got you close enough to find it...been most 30 year since I worked in that area..

Not to be picky, but your first picture is a Diamond T, pre 1960 with the IH Compfovision cab, not a Diamond Reo with either a Reo or Acar cab...

  2. That Jack Jones was a used truck dealer in the north Allentown area. I think he spent some time at the Lewistown Federal minimum security country club along with Sweichart (sp??) the Diamond REO / Marmon dealer, East Penn Trucking of Leighton for a stolen parts / chop shop operation in the early 80's.

  3. I think I still have a couple of those trucking song albums buried somewhere out in a storage building.

Dave Dudley was the first to record "Six Days on the Road",, BUT I have heard that it was written by a stick hauler team out of the Hickory NC area who had a local Saturday Night C&W band.

  4. Is this just south of the Turnpike Shops south of the tunnel???

If so go north on either PA 248 or PA 145. Or get off the Pike at the Leighton exit, go toward Leighton and turn back south on PA 248 thru the water gap. They come together just south of the Leigh River water gap between Berlinsville and Palmerton. When you get to the gap turn west across the river bridge. At the west end of the bridge bear right up the steep hill toward Slatedale. The Pike shops are out there about 3-4 miles. I forget exactly where the east side frontage road is??? The west side frontage road will take you into Slatedale. Turn left and follow it out to the dead end and turn left again toward Slatington. This will take you back under the Pike along the creek under the bridge at the bottom of the big dip on the Pike just south of the Pike shops.

Also if you go north on 309 and turn right in front of the Neffs church that road will take you toward Slatington. There is a restraunt on your left, just past that the roard makes a hard right curve and another road bears off to the left right in the curve toward Slatedale. I cannot remember the exact turns anymore??

The ATHS National show and convention was at the Sundome in Yakima last year. 817 trucks registered. The ATHS National show is on a rotating region schedule. The next one on the west coast is at the Oregon State Fair Grounds in Salem OR on May 26 to 28, 2016. There will be a local chapter show at Fullbright Park in Yakima on June 20-21, 2014 call 509-786-6908 for more details, and another chapter show in Duncan BC on July 12-13, and another chapter show in Cache Creek BC on July 25-27 call 250-962-6268, and Maple Valley WA Sept 14 call 206-683-0994

You can go to the calendar on the aths.org website or if you have a Tractor Supply store in your area you can pick up a copy of the ATHS Wheels of Time magazine for $6.50. Also Mackdaddy may jump in here with some more details of events in the Pacific Northwest.

I do not know at this time if I will try to come west for the Salem show or not??????

I do not think (?????) any of the short nosed Big Horns were ever produced?? The one prototype built spent its whole like at the Chrysler Proving Ground and rusted out real bad. Tony and Kyle Youngblood of Agusta GA were supposed to restore it and when Chrysler was sold to Fiat the Youngbloods ended us up as the owners. They had an article on it in the ATCA Double Clutch about a year or two ago. I would have to reread the article to make a definate statement.

Thanks for all the pictures and explaination of your operation. Most of my conversations with Geoff were about old trucks rather than farming although he had posted a few pictures of his trucks with orchards in the background.

I was going to visit your area after Yakima but then decided not to drag my Diamond T that far from home. Geoff had said I could park it at his place while we went to Alaska in just the F-250.
