if he's got a 2speed axle he ought to be able to do a little splittin'

yeah hk. nothing like a 1955 A-CAR with a 220 and a 5 and 3 in it when i first started. only two good shifts in the whole thing was 4to 5 and direct to over. some of those changes you could eat half of sandwich while waiting but you learned how. the truck kept moving but not fast. worst one i ever drove was a '56 R-220 binder. you talk about sraight gears 3rd to 4th seemed minutes.

when that happens to me i just blow it off as a senior moment

dave you might find some on the L-model registry list. john's new -old LS85 is on it . i registered it when i owned it.j.j.
-
john. i won a lot of 1st. and 2nd's in parades here in new england with that truck. hope you do out in chi.
-
that LS-85 was originally KINGSTON,NY. ENGINE 2.
john. i'll look this weekend. i may have ladder brackets for your truck.
-
trent, doug and chad. he is gonna' take some pics of the sleepers today so as soon as i get em' i'll send them along. j.j.
-
do you think that would drag a load up over "snowshoe" barry?
-
a buddy of mine has a 36" able body sleeper off of a "super dog" he wants to sell. it's mack part no. 85 QS 42 P28. serial#2737 687. sleeper is in western ma. has knockouts on each corner for the stacks. twostickmutt@yahoo.com

damn barry you're pretty smart. i couldn't have figured that out. i would have probably just put one of the old wind up alarm clocks on the dash

here are some casting numbers i found on the block. maybe this will help.
PART 131000
PAT 138424
0001 00 CD
MADE IN USA
50- 3 25 63
the part number was casted same as pat. number. the last 4 digits were ground off some and 1000 was stamped in it's place.. i'll have everybody scratching there heads pretty quick. j.j.

other dog. are you anywhere near montpelier. i used to haul many loads of lumber out of j.e. jones lumber with the ol' MH back up to the northeast here. j.j.
-
ron. there is some casting numbers on the drivers side of the block. i'm going to try to find the sreial number again today and while i'm there i'll get the casting numbers. thanks again. j.j.
-
thanks glenn. i'll look tomorrow and let you know. j.j.
-
ron. had some other numbers too...AR 5732 and 1283 D. one of those might be the date code. this doesn't have a compression release either. thanks. j.j.

boweevil. found some numbers on the pump tag like you said. i'll send them to cummins and see what i've got in the ol' mutt. they are......NHCT 270 652636. i thought maybe the nhct 270 meant it was a 270 but if i remember right they had turbo's and this doesn't. will let you know. thank you and everyone else for the help. j.j.
-
i'll check again today for some numbers. being in a cabover there is good access to the engine so if the numbers are there they should reach out and bite me. but that's when i usually miss what i'm looking for. will keep you posted. j.j.

bollweevil. i cleaned the block right to bare today and no luck. there is a raised machined strip that runs the lengh of the block under the heads where i would think they would stamp some numbers but saw nothing. even put my glasses on. the only numers i found were cast numbers halfway down the block between the middle and back head.
-
thanks again. i'll look later on today now that i know where and what to look for. will let you guys know what i find. j.j.
-
bollweevil. are they the casted numbers i see on the block or are they stamped? i've been looking for stamped. there is some casted numbers behind the shifting linkage bracket that i'll have to take off but no big deal at all. ol' cabover has brackets everywhere.
b-61. the fuel lines are internal. no turbo. was kinda' thinking "250" but just want to be sure. as i said with the engine number cummins can give me the rundown on it. i guess even what truck it was put in to new. as i said somewhere along the line the engine and transmission were changed in this truck. thanks guys.

trying to find the cummins engine number in my G- model. the tag that goes on the aux. drive has been long gone. truck was originaly a 220 but was changed at some time and would like to know what it has now. cummins guy told my on the back of the block there should be some numbers (8) stamped but i can't find them. took a wire wheel to the block but couldn't find them. once i get the numbers they can tell me what i've got. thanks
