Dayton - Budd Wheel Swap

Hello All,

Can anyone tell me what needs to be changed to swap from Dayton wheels to Budd type on a 74 R700 ?

Is it a straight swap of hub and brake drum onto axles with the same bearings or is it a little more complicated.

Any help appreciated. :)

Barry

I had a 78 R-700 and changed it over to budd from dayton and it was a simple swap. just changed the hubs. the brakes were all the same, and even the bearings.

Barry I live in Pennsylvania. In order to get legal weight on front axle of my tri-axle dump I run 315-80R22.5 on the front and lift axle not exactly super singles. They are rated for 9,000 lbs. apiece. I ran 425's in the past and never had a kingpin problem. I never heard of anyone having kingpin problems with the wide base tires and rims. That is not to say it is not possible. I do know if you do not run them and get axle weighed you will have a problem.LOL. Joe D.
