I have been searching for manuals and wiring diagrams for my truck and the only ones I see(manuals) that may work are on eBay.  The manuals are for a R600 truck.  I am thinking that this is the 600 series and would include the RD688.   Don’t want to buy the wrong manuals so any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

As far as manuals go,  the engine, trans, and rears are seperate and generic for lack of a better word. The engine is a E-7 350, dont know the trans, the rears are likely 92/93 series. As far as wiring, I dont know what book that would be. If you have a 200 series mack transmission, i have the book for it, drive shaft, and the rears.  I dont have an extra E-7 book.

Thank you.  The transmission is an Eaton 9 speed.  I found a E-7 overhaul manual on Ebay so that is a possibility.   I think maybe an owners manual that would layout what instruments were in the dash and just general information would be a help.

The wiring behind the dash Is terrible.  I really need a wiring diagram to try to work that out but in the end I may have to rewire to get the basic things working and be happy.

I see books for 1997 RD and later but not the 1992 to 1997.

97 is when V-Mac changed from 2 to 3, coming out in '98.  A whole other animal.. i just packed up a bunch of my books during a home repair project.  I may try to look for my drawings. I have a bunch.

KP2... I organized my library of shop manuals.  Unfortunatley, the only wire diagrams I have are V-Mac 3, and 4, or the Volvo versions after 2007.  I wish I could have helped you.  Jojo

I cant even find my notebook where i recorded all the pins on the bus bars on the firewall. That bugs me... my note books go back 25 years...

Thanks Joey Mack.  Sounds like you have an impressive library.  I hope you find your notebook.

Surely there was an owner’s manual with these trucks.  That would be some help.  If I see manuals for 600 series would that include my truck?

From what I've seen the owner's manuals was a generic book like what comes with a passenger vehicle. It was called "operators handbook" and just gave general information as to how to operate the various switches and things of that nature. It was not vehicle (serial / VIN #) specific. What you are a looking for are electrical shop manual items. I'm not sure if every truck built came with a shop manual. I think it depended on what the customer wanted and probably cost extra. A truck's shop manual was a binder that was labeled with the truck's serial/VIN and contained a variety of different system specific shop manuals based on the components included in the truck's build probably based on what the customer wanted. I've seen ones that were only one binder thick and others that were 3 binders worth of material. Buying any old shop manual or some type of generic "600 series" shop manual and expecting it to have a wiring diagram for a specific chassis is probably futile.
