Exhaust Manifold Coolant Leak

Recommended Posts

I am pulling the exhaust manifold off of my 707A engine and one of the studs came out when removing the nut. when the stud came out I noticed a moderate amount of Coolant come out of the stud hole. Is that normal, or do I have a bigger problem...

There was nothing to indicate to me that the stud holes in mine were NOT blind. There was and is no coolant and I did not use any sealant on the studs when I put it all back together. Could be you have a cracked head...I'm not 100% sure on this but I don't typically miss a detail which should be obvious...famous last words. You should take the heads and have them checked out anyway. Make note of the hole in question so they give it some extra scrutiny.

You may have a crack if the coolant stopped running out before the coolant level got to that point, that would denote a pressure leak thru the crack. I dpont know anything about a 707 but some engines do have holes tapped into coolant passages.
