Big Rd800 For Sale In France

Recommended Posts

This beauty of a truck is listed on truck paper but located in Frace. Its complete with 14.00R25 rubber on eight spoke rears and those massive 6 spoke front hubs with 2 clamp bolts. Its an off highway spec but certainly has the potential to be one serious dump truck! Has a 350 mack and a 18spd fuller although the shift knob in the cab is a Mack. What was the rating of that setup as another old DM800 with eight spoke is listed as having 80k rears! I have seen DM's with 8 spokes on mixer trucks around by me too.

That axle setup is also reminiscient of the massive F900 mixers Certified used to run.

Conforti also has a DM800 tractor with that axle setup.

8 spoke wheels were used on Mack 80,000 lb. capacity rears. I believe the double cleat 6 spoke front axle was rated at 22,000 lbs.

ThaddeusW, where did you get the pic of the Conforti DM800 from? I believe I was driving that day, as I moved that crane into South State's yard back in December.

BTW, awesome pic of the Certified truck. Wish there were more of those beasts still around. I haven't seen one in about 10 years...F-M Transit Mix in Jamaica Queens had the last one I saw.

Thanks for that info! The pictures were taken from another members gallery. His forum name is Tyson and apparently he is a shop worker at Conforti or one that does work for Conforti. So I bet you know him already!

I must say that its pretty cool that you work for Conforti as I always liked their equipment. How long have you been driving for them?

And as for those F900 mixers, you say that FM Transit was the last company that had those mixers? I am trying to see if I can track down what happened to them but another member, John (truck1536), a former driver for Certified and the F900's believes they were either all scrapped, exported or both (I forget). If FM got a hold of a few it would be interesting to see what happened to them but I don't think FM is still around, maybe John knows? To me that would be the holy grail of a restoration candidate! And FM buying some of those old certified units gives me some new hope that one might still exist.

Thaddeus,

After looking at his other pictures, I believe that Tyson works for South State, Inc., not Conforti. The picture on this post is definately from the day I moved this crane, but he has others from other moves, plus some pics of South State's Equipment as well

South State is a contractor from Vineland, NJ. They bought the 518 Link-Belt crawler from J.H. Reid of South Plainfield, NJ. We used to move this crane for them and have moved it several times since South State bought it.

I have been working for Conforti for 11 years. I started out part time escorting and helping out on beam moves and around the yard. When I got my CDL I began driving for him, eventually full time for a few years. Though I no longer work there full time, I still work there a few days every month and as needed, both driving and in the shop. I currently work for the local Caterpillar dealer.

FM Transit Mix had at least one F900 mixer, painted red with a white barrel. I photographed it sitting on Liberty Ave. in front of the plant about 10 years ago. This was at least before Tec-Crete was running out of that plant. I was not around to see the Certified trucks in action, had only heard of them until then. I could only imagine that truck in their paint scheme until I saw the pictures that were posted here a while back.

Have a good one!

Thaddeus,

F&M had their own F-900's. They were not old Certified units. Scaccia, who was also in Jamaica, had a few of these also. I also remember growing up near Kings Park, on Long Island, there was also a 900 that had a fifth wheel on it pulling a sand trailer. It was seafoam green. Must have been speced for a mixer, it had an extended bumper on it. Certified had purchased 45 of these mixers new and kept all of them. The truck numbers went from 1521 to 1565. If you take a look here, http://www.macktrucks.com/assets/mack/ModelProduction1.rtf , I would say that the Certified units were Model# F985, showing 45 units built.

Thinking back, I don't remember the barrel or the water tank on FMs truck being quite that large. John, what size barrels did Certified run on the F900s?

I was unaware that Scaccia had them as well. I remember them having B-models into the 80s. They brought one to Englishtown around 85 that was mint. I'm pretty sure that it was a B615 with the wide radiator. A few years back, one of their B-model mixers showed up at Devino's in Newark, NJ. I think they parted it out and it was subsequently scrapped. A shame, 'cause it was in good condition when it got there. That one had the standard radiator.

That Mack production list is interesting, though some of the dates are definately off. All DM800 production shows as ending in 1987. I drove an '88, one of six built for the same company that year.

For 45LMSWM

They had 15-17 cu. yd Challenge Cooke barrels. They barrels were eventually cut down to 13 cu.yds. when weight laws became more strict. The rear pedastel was moved forward and the frame was cut back from the rear. Not positive about the water tanks, but 350 gal. seems to stick in my mind.
