Looking for info. on the topload axles from the small ones to the medium ones. I worked with some mack topload diff's in 1986, the chucks were aluminum. Anybody out there have info. on these axles? daveigou Posted November 26, 2012 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Aluminum carriers were an option with the lower rated 34 -38K axles. I've seen some with corrosion issues, otherwise don't know much about the pro's & con's. Meritor (Rockwell) also offered some model axles with aluminum carriers for light weight bulk hauler applications.
