300 EM7 4 valve valve settings and Jake problem

Recommended Posts

Anyone know offhand what the lash #'s are for an early '90's 300 EM7 4 valve? I have the valve covers off of a friend's truck to look for problems with the Jake and I figured I'd better set the valves first but none of my books cover past the 2 valves. It has a 2 stage Jake (not a Dynatard) but the only way to tell that it is working is to roll down the window and listen. I drove the truck years ago and it seemed like it worked ok then, so something must have come out of adjustment since then. Any ideas?

Hi, the exhaust is .024, the intake is .016. Make sure you use timing marks either on flywheel or on vibration damper. This depends on whether it's mechanical or electronic, early E-7 s were either way. As for the Jake I believe .080 is the proper clearance for that. you may want to check wiyh a dealer for that spec after you determine the specific engine model.Good luck, steve
