I used the black stuff that cuts thru the paint easy. the thick steel wont feel any pain. it also flows better than the cheeper sand. it took me all day to do my bosses lowboy and lots of sand...
Have fun
Trent
i have used the black stuff too, It is very aggressive. It is very cheap down here, It is made out of some stuff that is scraped out of power plant smoke stacks. It can be bought by the truck load.

I want to add some tastefull lighting to the Western. I was thinking about adding a single amber light under the batt box to reflect off the air tanks and a few on the step ends? I dont think the air cleaner lights wold work having only 1 cleaner and I dont have the rear cab lights but was thinking about installing some red lights on the deck plate to reflect off the rear cab wall. Again im not looking to out do a everyday pete or KW but at night its pretty dark out back as the brake lights are all to be seen.
I seen some of the 4 inch clear lamps that would be on the rear of the sleeper or as a reverse lamp with a red bulb inside, I thought it looked cool.

Howdy, My name is Morgan Heaton, I live in Bloomfield Indiana which is about 60 miles SW of Indy. I have 63' b 61 that I bought to haul my other hobbies around with. I have several old farm tractors that I have been taking to shows, I got tired of hauling them one or two at a time with the pick-up so I bought the mack. Some times I dont unload the tractors off the truck, It just looks like I drove right out of the early sixties, with the mack, 720 and 730 john deeres. My other interrests include my 3 dogs, note the picture of "buck" to the left. I work at a ford dealer as a service tech, mostly on the little diesel pick-ups.

I seen in the newspaper where there is an auction that has alot of mack parts 15-17 mack transmissions, springs, hubs, and more. it is at Reeves Bros. Truck & Trailer Sales, Milford,IL. Sat. July 9 2005@ 8:00 CDT. ron
What part of Illinois is Milford? Are the parts mostly b model stuff or r model and newer? Thanks

I have done some trading with some fellow mack entusist, I have a end711 engine and a triplex trans, the engine is suppost to be overhauled in the not to distant past. what would you guy suggest I do before installing this into a truck? pull the pan and check bearings? or pull the heads off and check? also the trans is also a mystery, pull the top off and take a look? let me know you think

I have a b-model front axle numbers FA517 which has front brakes and a FA5071 which does not have brakes. My question is, both axles have spoke wheels and I was wanting to install budd style wheels. Both axles are 9500 # axles. Do I have to get hubs off of a truck with the exact same axle? are the bearings the same? and are the spindles the same? I dont have to have front brakes because my truck didnt come with them, but I thought I might install them while I change things over. If anybody has the stuff to do this let me know because I havent found any parts yet.
thanks
