  1. I'm on my way, little buddy! Always good to see other BCR's out there! Thanks for taking the pics there,Green Dash  Along with the cab, hood, grille filler panels, bag of brackets, you also got a new steering gear with a short shaft on it so you could adapt the R's steering column to it.$3000.00 from your Mack parts counter and 60 man/hours of labor and you could catapult yourself right into the 70's!! :bulldog3: (and yes it uses the stock B-61 radiator)

So thats what this BCR is all about.....I never ever heard of this before. A conversion kit to bring a B-model into the R-model realm of the 70s. No kidding...

  2. I don't think anyone meant they should be scrapped, but for the condition of the above mentioned trucks a fair price would be scrap value, which nowadays is pretty high. Most of the 140+ Macks that I own I purchased for scrap value or less, back in the days when the going rate was $20 to 50/ton.Pretty hard for most of us to afford to save trucks like the above when scrap is $200+/ton.Don't get me wrong, they should be saved. In my eyes, scrapping a Mack,no matter how bad, should be a capital offense. In a perfect world, owners of trucks such as these, rough, rusty, incomplete, and non running, that wanted rid of them should offer them to collectors at a much discounted rate knowing that some good would come out of them,be it parts or just to be saved as is,but unfortunately the buck is more important than the Bulldog to some.

Ahhh ok Superdog...alrite I'll let that slide. Im sorry, I saw B-models and someone mentioned scrap.....it doesnt sit well with me seeing the words Mack and scrap in the same sentence. Ive seen too much of that crap- in pursuit of the almighty buck. You are right, fair price to resell. Just wonder what happened to this cat and his trucks after all......

  3. If you like B models you need to come to Macungie,PA over fathers day weekend june 15-16, lots of B models.also theres a ATHS national show in West Springfield MA. may 31-june2, since it is on the eastcoast there will be alot of Bs there also you wont be disapointed. Ron

    Ditto......Do it

  4. The sound room is repopulated.

The sound room was simply a room that a truck could be run on a lift to diagnose noise related issues.

The dyno room was the climate controlled room where the trucks were run under extreme temperature conditions.

The heating and cooling system for the dyno room is immense! The range of temperature was unbelievable...

The dyno room! Shucks I dont think I saw that one....well next time then lol. I was just goin through my pics again and realized that your baby was hiding in the corner back there. I overlooked it the first time... Thats one sharp truck.

  5. So I just found this forum yesterday after getting home with my new project. It is a 1951 Mack LJ.

I don't have all the specs and details yet about this truck but I do know it had a 220 Cummins installed

at some point in its life. And it has the 5 and two twin stick setup with an extra 3 speed brownie after all that.

I do see myself reading a ton on here in the future and asking many questions. I will add some pictures

    when I figure out how.

Sweet Ride....that baby is in good shape. Cheers

  6. ya i did thought it was cool. are you keeping the truck a tractor?

Yes sir absolutely. My father had a fleet of these in the 60s all single axle tractors. The body was added by someone else after. I reacquired it not too long ago now. This is the last of the mohegans and I plan on restoring it back to the way my father had 'em. I did alittle write up about the truck awhile ago in the truck story section I believe it was...By the way love that lil U of yours

  7. Correction:

The local "Antique Truck Club of America" (ATCA) chapter has work day at the Museum.

We did move most of the trucks back into the sound room.

Work day was last Saturday but I couldn't be there due to my daughters basketball tournament. (Which they won in triple OT!)

The floor was done this week, so we moved trucks back in today.

    We had a great day!

Yes ATCA my mistake, where did ATHS come from...nevermind brain backfire. Yesterday they had the heat cranked up to dry the epoxy on the floor, it felt like an oven...so I assumed you would be relocating them today. I'll bet that looks impressive now. I snapped a pic of the room, with all the heat yesterday I thought it was an old heat testing and extreme conditions room until Steve told me "you can walk in there, close the doors and drop a quarter and never hear it hit the ground". Very impressive.

  8. I really cant wait to get there

Heres one for you buddy. Have you seen the Transformer movies? Im pretty sure the scene starts off in Australia...Megatron has turned himself into a badass Mack...its up here on display. Regardless of the movies which I thought were eh...so-so... The truck is badass. I love the Kill tally on the doors hahaha. Think it would make a great candidate for a Duel remake haha.

  9. I was there today rearranging the truck displays. It is a great place!

Steve the assistant curator told me the local ATHS club comes over on Saturdays to play...I thought about you immediately. I also noticed Daryls superliner was on display. Let me guess, today you moved his and the rest into the old sound test room that they just epoxied the floor of....right? Lol

  10. Ok Ok Its time to get specific...although I was at the Macungie manufacturing plant just in the giftshop yesterday....Thats NOT where these pics were taken. This is at the former engineering, design, and proving grounds in Allentown PA just down the road and around the bend from the former Mack World headquarters which was closed down and relocated to Greensboro N.C. two years ago. They have been renovating the old R&D plant for the last 2 years and now its the Mack Museum and Customer center. Where you can see the oldest Mack known to exist, study Mack history, or if in the market take a brand new Titan or whichever you fancy for a spin around the complex!! This is also where they are keeping the historical documents on our trucks gentlemen! To say the least...it was awesome, and if you havent been there yet, well....get off your axle. http://mackexperience.com
