  1. Shit I must have something wrong with my eyes cause when I first read your second post I read "Obama" orange!!! I thought Jesus Christ, I must be losing it but then came to my senses and re read the post.

    All is better now.

Send Leslie one of those crossmembers.

    Rob

Funny I thought about that too...for Leslie. Thing is Im not entirely sure thats for one of ours...I kinda think someone just chucked that on there as that one seems to have all of its crossmembers...I'll have to take a look again.

  2. If it would mean something to you it by all means is worth something. I'd save it just because I can avoid it being scrapped. One man's junk is another treasure as we all know. That truck being a family member's former possession is worth having just because of the history.

    Rob

My friend you seem to understand my thought process....

This is the other one that remains

  3. On a B model, not too common. On an older truck and not broken, very rare. Don't know if they would be worth anything however unless a 100 point restoration is being performed.

    Rob

Well you may find this interesting....a long while back I mentioned that I know of two other trucks that belonged to my dad. This is one of em... And it happens to be an "LT". Im considering trying to bring this home so it doesn't disappear into oblivion in the future.

  4. It has to be driven out, 2# hammer or big air hammer with blunt point.

    FW

Thanks for that input Fifth wheel I've been so tempted too just grab my weapon of choice and start going to town. "They dont call me Big Hammer for nothin" but I really didnt want to mushroom this damn thing and get it wedged, then I'll really be kicking myself. I've got a good Snap-On air hammer...after what I just saw I have my doubts.... but im gonna have to give it a shot I guess.

  5. So I scored some old stainless quarter fenders and the post mounts to go right on the spring hanger bolts. (Remove factory bolt and replace with longer bolt too give enough thread to bite on to after mount posts are slipped on). Ive removed the nut with ease off of the bolt that Im looking to replace, now I want to get that bolt out of the frame and hanger ( that Im pretty sure hasn't been touched since '63). Its a 15/16th headed bolt. I've got a 3/4 inch drive Snap-On brand impact on this thing backed by an uncorked 80 gallon Snap-On compressor and this f**kin thing is laughing at me going "that tickles that tickles.......but Im still not comin out". Anybody know how to man handle something like this and get it out clean without breaking out a torch?

  6. There were evidently several different versions of the B Flagship cab based on the model to be used on.The CA212 would have had a doghouse, where a CA21 didn't need one.The CA27 cab was the concave cab used on the B61.The sleeper cabs for a B61 were the CAS25 for the early side window version and CAS28 for the later vent style.Anyone wanting to know any more versions,I can look them up,then maybe somebody with more time & talent can make a list or something.

Thats great information Mike thank you. We should really try to get that info readily available around here like you said. I thought at first the CA21 you mentioned was a type error......never thought about the doghouse being the variable....how bout that.

  7. AHA! I knew there was a 20" B style wheel in existance! I guess they put them in the Concave cab trucks! I need to get my hands on one! I could add a small bit of padding to the 1/2 plywood I lean back on!

Yea Leslie its 20 inches....thing is it isnt a concave cab......or was it?.....still trying to figure that out......My build sheet tells me CAB TYPE: CA 32 Still don't know if thats the standard or concave according to the numbers.....Cuz I don't know what the hell the numbers mean!

No scratch that.....this just in...Im reading my build sheet and It indicates that CA32 IS the contour cab and that CA212 is the optional straight-back. Ok Im starting to think that my cab has either been replaced or modified....Because it is definitely not a concave now but the build record says it was.

  8. I have one on the shelf and another in a truck about to go under the knife (the kind of surgery it will not survive). If you pay the shipping, or come get it, you can have it. It would mean so much to me to be so close to your smart ass.

Rob - are you really down under 400 pounds now? Congratulations - keep up the exercise and you will hit your goal!

HHAAAHAHA Oh I almost fell outta the chair. I must have made an impression on you Olive! HAHA I knew somehow I liked you.....

Ok Im composed..... Can ya send me some pictures of those seats? Are they pretty nice or flat out worn out or what am I dealing with here? Im actually thinking about getting two of em....so any of my passengers can have the air ride experience instead of having their dentures/teeth rattle out of their heads. If ya want you can send me a personal email at Hemi6869@aol.com

  9. Great info. That's pretty neat that it came from a classic LTL carrier. Did you know that it had come from Hall's?

I thought so too Jim. And no I did not know that Halls owned it at one time. For me the classic carrier that matters will always be Barrett Trucking Inc. My fathers company and the fact that he owned and operated this truck and quite a damn few others like it. But the fact that it also has history with Halls prior to his ownership of the truck makes the cool factor even better.....

  10. Hi, I'm sure it's been posted before on this sight, but how much$ does it cost and what is the contact info at Mack. Thanks,Steve

Here you go Steve and for anyone else interested. This is a shot of my cover letter with contact info and the facts about the cost at the bottom. This is a great service that they provide and I am planning on making a donation and writing back to personally thank the crew in the records department which I think may do what they do on a volunteer basis.

  11. awesome!!! they gave me a nice little white book like that too, and the first class mail envolope. geat history on your truck too. my u model was built july 16th. also i have one question. it says "Upon completion, this truck was assigned to the Mack Trucks factory dealership, Uttal Mack Trucks Inc. of Norristown PA, and then delivered to Hall's Motor Transit Co on July 15, 1963." well my build sheets for the u say it was asigned too, and delivered too, something in worwick rhode island. what does that mean?

Well Vinny that simply means that it went to the Mack dealership right after it was built, mine went to Uttal's Mack in Norristown PA. Yours probably went to a Mack dealer somewhere up near Rhode Island. Then after being delivered to the Mack dealership, someone from Halls Motor Transit purchased it at the Mack dealership and it was then sent to Harrisburg where Hall's had a trucking terminal.

So after being built your U model was "assigned" "slated" "arrangements were made" for it to go to one of Macks dealerships...... Then when somebody finally bought the truck from Mack it was "delivered" also known as "sold" to that person or company.

The dates on mine indicate that it was probably ordered and built specifically for Halls and its stop at Uttals Mack was only for a day or two. So Halls probably bought a pile of trucks through Uttals and they were delivered as soon as they were built......My build sheet "Desired delivery date" section says "[Rush - Rush - Rush*]".

  12. It will be worse with the stock seat the truck was probably built with. Get yourself a Bostrom T Bar seat. It is about the thinnest profile seat and still comfortable available. This is what I'm doing with mine.

I'm 5'2" at just over 310 pounds and this truck really cramps my style. This is one of the only times I'm glad "Momma" done got my nuts cause they would be crushed if trying to drive this thing with em.

    Rob

Bostrom T Bar....I'll have to look into that. I was just at Reading Mack eye balling a Bostrom with the nice BullDog embossed in the back, really hate the idea of a modern seat with plastic adjusting knobs, but the seats in it have got to go....

  13. If I could drop about 35 pounds from my fat ass I might be able to actually drive my B67. As it sits the damned steering wheel is so far into my gut it won't spin back from a turn when let go of.

    Rob

HAHA two words my friend........Jenny Craig...... HAHA no im just f!@kin with ya. I've got problems myself. Some genius removed the air ride "If it ever had one" and mounted seats "on the floor" So it sits kinda low. And in doing so My 6'3" 275lbs ass is all sorts of cramped up. My knee is in my mouth when I go to push the clutch in......
