  1. Actually there is a Mack jr hub cap on Ebay right now. Supposed to be original and looked pretty good in the pic. Out of TX for $200.
  2. Thanks Dover but not exactly. That is a basic how to wire the switch but I am trying to figure what the truck has coming to the switch. It had a few more wires than that to contend with. So far I have 4 battery cables, start, ground, power feed through the amp meter for the cab acc and still have a couple of extras left over coming out of the harness. I am guessing that one is a wire from the generator but there is still 2 more that I haven't accounted for yet. This is after getting rid of the extras that go from the relay to the SP. It also appears that the ground is running through a fuse holder also and I still have another fuse holder next to that. Someone on another site posted up a schematic for a later mack but still isn't right to what I have. Its close but It may be what I have to work with it.
  3. Man I must be special. i have personnaly seen 2 of these in person now. Thats 33% of the ones in existance and both were in the state of Iowa! For that price I think I would buy 3 of them being its only pocket change.
  4. Does anyone have a wiring schematic for a series parrallel switch truck for the old setup with seperate switch and relay? The ones in the Wiki are all the newer style switch that I am going to but I have a few extra wires to identify. My original setup in the L model had the relay, switch, and 2 fuses next to the switch/relay between the seats if that helps. I already ID'd the battery cables (obvious), start switch lead, and power lead for the cab but have no idea what the rest is. I assume one is the charge from the generator/regulator. I am stuck upgrading the system due to the relay dying and not being rebuildable anymore. Please no banter about converting the starter to 12v. I want to keep the system 12/24v.
  5. Lanova's were the first mack engines from the 30's. There was a 510 and 672 motor. I don't know anything about the 510 but the 672 had indirect injection rated at 150HP. When they upgraded the motor in 53 it got direct injection and became known as END-673. probably a few other small differences also.
  6. Thanks. Where the 672's marked as 672 or 673? The motor does say Thermodyne on the valve cover.
  7. 10x22 rubber. Lanova (I think), TR-150 main with a 8031 aux trans, 6.67 rear gear. The winch is a appleton but I don't know anything about it. So far I fixed an oil leak on the rear and changed the lube in both transmissions and axle. Still screwing around with trying to get the electrical working. I will probably just hook up a temp start button for now just to get the truck mobile. Once I get that done I need to change the motor oil and antifreeze. From there I will probably redo the rear brakes, rewire the truck then start in on body work. I want it to be a runner so that I can start going to shows as I restore the old girl. The motor seemed to run pretty good when I went to look at it.
  8. Which side do you need Glenn? Its mostly grimm under the hood. I can snap a couple tommorow when its light out.
  9. Anyone know what the gear ratios are for this trans? I did not see it in the wiki article and turned up nothing in a search.
  10. I got the 51 LJT home this weekend and checked the engine serial number. It should be a Lanova but the serial number is END 673 164 93. Shouldn't a Lanova be an END 672? I bought the truck from the second owners son who swears the motor is original. I found some records in the truck showing the heads where swapped in 63 or 64 with 90k miles so I dought the motor was changed before it came to the previous owner. Any help would be appreciated.
  11. No truck experience but I had them on a pickup. I will never own them again. 8ply laod range E's and the tire was walking around on the rim with any load on the truck. They where worse than the D rates I replaced!
  12. Thanks Andy. I may take you up on that offer. I have been busy the last few days and havn't had a chance to play with the pics. I have been getting the new to trailer ready to pick the truck up. All new brakes and redoing the wiring right now while trying to beat the rain. Still waiting on the tags in the mail. Eithere way the truck will be home soon.

  16. Yup, I was at work at the time and figured out how to do it over there. Never posted pics before that. I have a few more pics from the add but the quality isnt as good. I Got to figure it out for this board and then I will get it up on here. Hopefully I don't need a online photo account here as I don't have one. Why are computers such a pain in the a@@ when they are supposed to make life easier?
  17. Well she is mine now. I dropped the downpayment and go pick her up in two weeks. I am currently working on the transportaion end of things. I don't feel like driving 300 miles just to turn around and drive back 15o miles to get the truck, then making the return trip just because I borrowed my dads trailer. Got a line on a nice Ferree trailer for cheap but I will need to convert the air/hydraulic to electric hydraulic. Going to check that tomorrow. I regret selling my old trailer now but it would have been seriously overloaded. Once I get the Mack home I will see about putting up a few pics.
  18. I don't mind the wait itself. It is the let down when you see someone elses idea of gold! I see what I can do abou pics in a couple of days.
  19. Been lurking around and learning alot. Now I am going to look at a 51 LJT Saturday and was wondering if there is anything special to look out for? I know the basics such as rust and hack job repairs but are there any other issues that I should be aware of? I am mechanicaly oriented but this is my first venture into the rig market. The truck in question runs but needs the rear brakes redone (pancake), new batteries possibly, and a couple of tires. I talked to the 2nd owners son and he stated that it was a diesel and he thought a quad box. The chasis number is LJT1D11335D if that helps.
