Yep, its officially a "Mack/Sutphen". Has the guts of a Mack with the body of a Sutphen. We've had a few mechanical problems with it, but overall it does its job. It helps that our Chief's father owns PA Fire Apparatus, so we can take it half a mile down the road if it has problems. Not to mention that he also is usually the one driving it

Today I had the chance to take some pics of Gettysburg FD's former Engine 1-1, a Mack B Pumper nicknamed the "General Ike". It was originally red before they changed their color scheme to "slime lime" and white; thankfully they restored it to red It was restored by PA Fire Apparatus, which is located in Heidlersburg. I believe it was restored for a private collector who had bought the truck, but hasnt picked it up yet. Enjoy! This rig was also there: These were all part of a Memorial Day display put out by the owner of PA Fire Apparatus/Lady and Taylor Body Shop, who happens to be the father of Heidlersburg's Fire Chief.

thanks for the input guys While I was at work, my dad got home and tinkered around with it a little, and it turns out that the contacts in the distributor cap were corroded, so after a little cleaning, it fired up and ran. So what we figure happened is that we dont keep a lot of gas in it, so going up the hill, the gas got taken away from the line for the fuel pump, which made it quit. Then the corroded points kept it from starting even after there was plenty of fuel in it. Still is a mystery to me how they got corroded enough to keep it from starting in the 10 minutes that I was driving. I guess thats just how some of these old trucks are, though Thanks again for the tips

Alrighty, so today I was driving our MB 410 around, and was coming up our driveway, and it decided to quit on me. At first, I thought it was low on gas because of going uphill, so I put about 5 gallons into the tank, and tried again. This didnt change anything, so I put 5 more gallons in, still won't start. I coasted it off the driveway, but now it's setting uphill and leaning towards the passenger's side. Also attempted to clean the points, but because of the hill, the cab wouldn't stay tilted, so I'm not sure how good of a job of cleaning I did. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

I'm with "other dog", white rims with wheels the same color as the truck would look great.

that cab is great, even close to the right color a little too far away, though. got a question for you guys- anybody have any tips for getting the interior door latches to work again? the driver's side one will move, but doesnt seem to be working the latch.
