Hey rob, yep you can get some pretty good chillidogs around raleigh/durham,weird thing about the south though, they put coleslaw on em'! being a transplanted "yankee" myself, thought this was a little strange. I'm not sure all what can be seen in the area familywise, but there are a number of historical type places scattered throughout the area. And should a "mack attack" take place you will only be about an hour from macks new headquarters in greensboro, located just off I-40 at exit 210,they have a giant gold bulldog out front, next to a new pinnacle daycab should make a pretty nice "photo op" if you have the time, and according to the sign out on the interstate, the new mack shop has just opened visitors welcome! when the date gets nearer, maybe we can visit for a while,i'm not all that far from where you will be (provided i'm home) been working an awful lot lately! seems my wife an boy have grown accustomed to living indoors and eating 3 meals a day!............Mark

Damn! this ones right up my alley! really like the 700 series, not crazy about the cummins,but.......looks to be "do-able" though think the 140K is a misprint? if its not then this tractor is barely broke-in!.......Mark

Well if Clem dont behave you just might have some powderhorns. One thing you dont do, is park anything really cleaned up and shiny around him, if he manages to catch a glimpse of his own reflection, all hell is gonna break loose. Randy
Nothin' clean and shiny huh? guess i won't bring my tired iron around then!....Mark

My wife found this picture at the flea market, she thought it was an old mack, and thought i'd like it for my toyroom, thought you guys might like it as well, kinda' got a kick outta' the AC pedalcar, i've seen a few of these but they are pretty pricey, the PETRO/ IOWA 80 in joplin,MO has a restored one on display in the restaurant, its a "working" dumptruck with a 2 speed kid powered trans. ...........Mark

I never really knew all that much about these tilt-hood conversions,i am doing a little research on them myself. I only ever saw one in person,it was back in the 70's on the new jersey turnpike, did'nt know what i had seen at the time, the only reason it sticks out in my mind so much is the way the truck i saw was painted,it was dark green, with the "tiger mouth" and eyes much like a WWII P-40 warhawk (flying tigers) i never saw the truck again, but noted it was pulling an older style great dane reefer and appeared to be an owner/operator type outfit. Sure woulda made a great picture!........Mark

I was thinking this would make a pretty neat RV/toy hauler type vehicle like the RS-600L Muladzh has posted on here,living/sleeping area, galley kitchen, beer cooler etc. sure be a nice outfit to take to shows if done properly, would'nt have to worry about anybody else showing with a similar truck, thats for sure!...Mark

Are those 59 Cadillac tail lights on front?

I run an E-7 460 in my 2001 CX-613 backed by a 13 spd. road ranger and i absoulutely love it! (pre-emissions) but it runs great, pulls great and i've had very few problems with it. The only real perpetual problem i've ever with this tractor has been with coolant tanks, but they (mack) seem to have a handle on that now. Seems to be a good clean truck in nice shape hope you have good luck with it!.........Mark

IMHO IDK if I should ROTFLMFAO

Really showing my age here but had to ask my daughter what "TMI" stood for........
She asked why I needed to know and after telling her, she rolled her eyes at me.
Rob
I'm right there with you! had to finally break-down and ask my much smarter computer literate wife what "IMO" meant! at one point, i had the dammdest time trying to figure out what "LOL" meant! i'm deffinately from the wrong century,so much technology,so little brain power!!!!!............Mark

I left the fuel stop at exit 7 in Ga. Wednesday morning a little before 8. I got to Ft. Lauderdale about 1:30 pm, unloaded at Steel Fabricators, and headed straight back north to exit 7 in Ga. That was an all day job, over 700 miles in Florida. Had to pick up in Savannah yesterday coming back to Petersburg,Va.
I thought I saw you on I-95 near Ft. Lauderdale, but wasn't sure. Saw a big looooong stretch limousine but the windows were tinted so dark I couldn't see in. Summich was so long it's a wonder the frame didn't break.
I was down in FL the week before last, delivered in brandon (tampa) deadheaded back up just south of jacksonville, reloaded had to sit on it a few days,so came home for a couple days, started dropping this shipment last week ( 3 stops)ended up out here, looks like its gonna be monday before i get my eastbound load picked up oh well! shit happens!......Mark

I haven't been there for 30 years, but I remember how strange it was (to me anyway) to look at the mountains around L.A. and you could see the lower parts and the tops-the rest was just completely blocked by smog.
The loads are going to Avila Beach. The drivers that have been there before go to Bakersfield and come back south on 99 then take 166 back west to 101 north to stay far away from L.A.
My truck drips a little oil too. Drips a little power steering fluid. I might just tell them I don't want to go, i'm still pondering it. I kinda do and kinda don't.
Yeah i know how that is,but for what this deal paid,i could'nt turn it down!..Mark

And y'all didn't even stop by to say "hey"
Should have got lost and ended up near the beach, then you would have plenty of "viewing opportunities.
Kalle-fornica--- Hope the truck is new enough to meet CARB.
"Get that piece of ____ off my highway"
Believe it or not,the the first place i went with this truck after a bought it was cal. i got DOT'd at the banning scale, i got a $150.00 ticket for "excessive" grease on the fifth wheel in A BRAND NEW TRUCK !!! which i was told is an "environmental hazard" i told the DOT officer (female) that i'd eat the glob of grease, and if it killed me,i'd go ahead and take the ticket! but she was not amused! no sense of humor whatsoever! so,unless it pays a TON of $$$$$$$,i try to keep my ass outta' cal...........Mark

California huh? i just delivered a shipment of FANCY new office furniture to universal studios office complex just outside of LA, thats part of the old "hollywoodland" sign behind the truck, they did'nt want anyone to see my truck while i was there (eyesore/diesel fumes so i'm told) so they put me up in a pretty nice hotel. I took a few pics of downtown, smoggy, dirty shithole everybody thinks it is! something wrong with people out here, thats for sure!!....Mark

Hey , I was wondering what did just a regular single axle B 61 cost new back in the 50's or 60's? Just a ball park. I wanted to put that info on my display - Thanks
Don't know if this of any help to you,but when my grandad bought the B-61T that i started in, it still had a copy of the dealer delivery receipt in the glove box,it showed the truck as purchased was $17,464.88 including options and delivery charges. The only options listed were a bostrom "T bar" drivers seat, and a recording tachograph. Ours was number 3 of a fleet order of 20 to amerada hess inc. woodbridge,NJ Oct.7,1963. So i'm sure this was the "fleet" price, but might give you some idea what it was new, yours is real close in looks to the one we had.......Mark

Hey randy, right there with you! i always was interested in vintage aircraft (WWII era) i had an opportunity to take a ride in a B-17 when i was a younger man,it was quite an adventure! my maternal grandfather was a right waist gunner on a B-17, flew 26 missions, was shot down twice! tough old bastard! don't know if you know the name, but paul tibbetts has always been one of my heroes (enola gay/ B-29) when i think, or read something about what these flight crews went through, makes me proud to be an american!...........Mark
