  1. :thumb::clap: i think its more of a Valva issue, as the Local Mack dealer by me stock's B-Model parts they also restore 3-5 Vintage truck's every year, prolly why they keep the old truck parts in stock or ready to order :clap:

They Like seeing the Vintage iron as they claim it helps them sell truck's :thumb:

according to the salesman it's easier to sell a new or used Mack truck when he can point out 2 or 3 Vintage truck's and say look how long they last, that Mack is 50 years old and that Mack is 30 years old n both run n drive perfectly, so why not buy this New rig here . . .

I guess it's working they change over there whole lot 2 or 3 times a year !

Of course my personal saying goes " Old Mack's never die they just lose weight increasing payload"

  2. So the Midliner is an Obsolete truck ? and now the parts are fading away ?

I have a Mack dealer "Madison Mack Sales" just down the block i drive there 5min or walk there in 15min. . .

But if the parts are obsolete then that ain't going to help and you say its an 8.8L motor ?

I was going to Repower this rig with an 8.3L Cummins and found the engine was to large . . .

So i'm guessing this would turn out the same, I have no complaint's with the Gas engine it's just 56 years old, should i ever need parts or a rebuild i'm bit concerned about availability of parts to do so . . . I guess if Ain't broke don't fix it eh ?

  3. That's because of GM's soft comfort ride suspension, once loaded they SAG alot !

the 02' 2500HD used to sag bad when the enclosed mowing trailer was hitched to it, it's only a measly 12,000LB's, So i had a 3leaf helper spring's added to each side on the rear and had a leveling kit done to the front now it hardly notices that 12K-LB trailer, and that 8.1L Vortec V-8 pulls it as tho it wasn't there :thumb:

  5. Well i didn't start the GM v.s. Ford war :thumb:

Nothing wrong with Peter Paul n Kenny . . . :mack1: just dose it better :SMOKIE-LFT:

Ford builds a Fine machine . . . 1 out of every 250,000 :thumb: that's better then never getting it right

Another Example per your Request Double L:

    built Ford tough

    My 1983 Stang GL 5.8L MPI V8, C-4 trans 9" rear 3.73's v.s. My 1992 GTA 5.7 TBI V8 4L60E 3.73's . . .

Which is faster ? never got to find out went to the drag strip 3 time with them both.

    STANG;

First go around the Stang twisted off the yoke on the 9" . . .

Second Go round Stang launched burned threw the 60' then the C-4 gernaded all over the track . . .

Third go around built trans built rear end hard launch just passed 1/8 mile trans started slipping n let go . . .

    GTA:

    Round 1 14.92@82mph.

    Round 2 14.88@86mph.

    Round 3 15.40@78mph blown motor.

Round 3 the GM blew up n still finished the race Rods hammering away

    Them Rotten GM's eh ?

  6. ...so you are comparing a fiberglass Corvette with a metal Mustang. Let's see how they compare in a crash test. Trunk space? Back seat? But to pit the Corvette against a Mustang in a performance evaluation would be like putting the Silverado up against a Ranger to see which truck is better, and then limiting your evaluation to power, towing, & payload.

If you want a fair GM vs. Ford comparison, try Camero vs. Mustang....Silverado vs. F-Series....when the competition is kept to similar vehicles, Ford wins every time. :thumb:

    ok then. . .

My 95' Ford F150 never towed a thing smoked 3 transmissions in 155,000 miles. V.S. My 81' Chevy K1500 287,000 miles 1- Blown engine the 350 puked at 75K miles, was replaced by 406SBC original Trans routinely towed 7,500LB's .

    Ford three $3,800 transmissions Chevy one $2,500 engine . . .

    GM wins :thumb:

I have dozens of such examples if you need more ?
