  1. Depends on the condition. If it runs, drives and has no drive line problems then it could be worth up to $10,000. There is one or two that were used for heavy haul on truckpaper.com and they want some crazy number, something like $35,000 each. I don't know how good the LeRoi engine is but they more commonly built with Cummins non turbo 903's . Transmission is a Mack gearbox with integrated transfer case and the rears are 65,000 pound Mack axles with a 9.02:1 ratio. The front might be rated at 18,000 lbs, not sure but it uses a helix gear set instead of a double cardan joint for the axle shaft.

    Not a fast truck but a very powerful one, made to haul tanks off road so it has to be tougher than nails. Shame Oshkosh

    took over making Military trucks, Mack could have easily have filled that need.

    903 V8's Incorrect, its a V-300 300hp@3,000rpm the V-903 was 300hp@2100rpm., the V-300 is 785CID the V-903 is 902.8CID :thumb:

    Correction: the diesel's got 10.11:1 gears not 9.02's :thumb:

    The 18K steer axles part number matches that of a 65K-lb Mack driving steer axle.

    The 65K-lb Rear axle part numbers match that of the 120-150K-LB Mack rears.

    IE: Madison Mack Sales inc.

    Not busting your chop's no malice intended, the M123 & M125 same plate form but the M125 is actually a cargo truck the M123 was the tractor . . .

    I was going to repower the M125 with a V-300 Cummins diesel has the 3,000rpm diesel will speed up the truck over the 2,600rpm Gasser . . .

    giving me a plenty powerful 45mph cruising speed and a 52mph get out dodge speed . . .

    M123/M125 cruising speed is 35-40mph M123 max speed is 44mph and M125 max speed is 42mph.

    Sadly i know all the Tech data on them, But i haven't a clue on the value of them :pat:

    $10,000-$35,000 your saying ?

  2. I usually use 2nd @ 1600 RPM's...unless you consider L to be 1st, then I'd be in 3rd...unless you are counting splits as gears, then it would be 5th or 6th depending on where I've got the splitter lever....

    If you can't push a little harder on the throttle and accelerate, you're in the wrong gear. :thumb:

    That would be every is the wrong gear then in my 6.5-T :thumb: to bad they don't let you test drive'em loaded :angry: or i would have never bought it, i have tossed about ever up grade to it i could in between break downs :thumb:

    quick as heck empy doggy as piss loaded . .then again should i of expected any else from an engine designed by Detroit :thumb:

    I'm not saying it doggy under 12,000LB load or 7,000LB load it gets doggy under a 4,500lb load or 3,000lb load starts slowing down at a 1,500lb load n by 4,500LB's its a puke.

    Its got 4.10 gears came factory with 32" tire i dropped down to 30" tire it got better but not enough to notice it so i went back up to the 7.50-16's truck really should have 4.56's . . . high reving low power turbo diesel sure sound's like an 8V-71 to me :thumb: . . .

  3. if you watch you'll hear the drive shaft catch the truck wiggles and continues on a little ways further then it let's go :thumb:

    a Mack M123A1C would have made that pull easy with the big ol brute of a V-300 Cummins rapping up the hill in the lo hole humming along at 2,800-3,200rpm's while them twin 65K-lb rear's with 10.11 gears howled the whole way . . .

    I love them military truck they ID tag 65,000lb yet when you run the part number off the rear ends they come back as 120,000LB rear end's and the 18K-lb steer axle come' back as a 52,000lb steer axle . . .

    the GI under rating system why do they do it ?

  4. I saw an RD 6x6 fifth wheel tractor pulling a lowboy, i was trying to find out weather or not this was a production truck or a custom built unit ?

    The 6x6 Mack tractors i'm interested in buying are the M52A1 5ton Mack 6x6 truck tractor, and the M123A1C 10 ton Mack 6x6 truck tractor, between those 2 truck's i can tow anything from 30,000Lb's - 600,000Lb's :thumb:

  5. The Cummins 855 I-6 SC/BC's & 1150 I-6 KT's where some brutes and fairly reliable powerful engine's, I could see using those in a solid Mack truck . . .

    Cat i don't really know so i don't comment on them except i think the 3208 210-225hp V8 was a pile and the only Cat i ever delt with . . .

    Detroit i just never really liked but they sure sound cool rapping threw the gears at 3,200rpm's . . .

    I personally have had Fantastic Luck with Cummins & Mack Diesel's, so that's what i'll use for diesel power :thumb:

  7. I been running 80w-140 AMSOIL in my Triplex, and SAE190W AMSOIL in my Diff's, they get changed every spring drained n refilled. . .

    Farm & Fleet has a brand called Mystic that is Red in color and has an odd smell to it but i assure you it'sa good lube i have used it in the past, but i figured i been using AMSOIL engine oil i may as well run there other products as well being a dealer of the stuff and all. . .

    EDIT:

    I have found synthetic offer's better protection in Vehicles that sit a lot as they don't break down into an acidic liquid like the Dino lubes do . . .

    Plus better lubrication and wear protection when ran every day . .

    Apparently it work's but i sure would to be a fly on the wall to hear how it goes down ya know ?

    Hear what the dealer says ? and how the customer responds ?

There's millions of the 1970's Mack's out there running around still, So when you build a truck that don't die, i would keep as much of the vintage parts around as you can sure sell new truck's use the durability of the old trucks to sell the new truck's like the local Mack dealer here dose :thumb:

    They claim to have seen a noticeable improvement on new truck sales using the Vintage trucks for examples of reliability n durability . . .
