2 things way they still use them.
1. They cheap, not good not bad just plan $ wise cheap.
2. If it ain't broke don't fix it, why R & D a new Prime mover if the old ones are still dong the work . . .

Yes they got some new iron up for testing, AM-General is doing a Joint venture set of Rigs.
New Rig's:
http://www.generaltacticalvehicles.com/
To me it looks like a blend of AM-Generals Humvee and IHC/OshKosh's M-rap
So, if all goes well it be AM-G & Mack supplying the military its Rig's and that is one tough pair to beat

Sweet, So Mack has got plenty of variant's set up and stand at the ready to make any truck into what ever truck they need . . . 4 truck's becomes 8 truck's or 12 trucks

Very, they not only bought the heavy haul tractor they took 3 other truck as well . . .
Is back in the Military
Lots of engine power and Low gear ratio's they are set to walk the line with pride as they once did

I'm guessing by the lack of response the New Mil-Spec Mack tractor went no place . . .

I'm guessing by the date this was started the buy out was way back in 2007 and thsi tread made it right up to 8/2010 so i'm guessing there was lots to be said ? . . . Mack is entering 2011, so that's 4 model years so far with volvo and they are still around . . .
Can i ask what might be a stupid question ? . . . why did Mack sell out ?

I don't think the Mack will ever seen military action, best i can Tell the IHC's & Oshkosh's are beyond what Mack is offering at the current . . .
Mack might be all done in the military if they don't step it up

I got informed Friday that by April 4th they will no longer be needing at work
WONDERFUL !
Mike
-
WHY?
because i won't be able to haul with it . . . i
I will have to tag it with these new "Historic Military Vehicle" plates which are more restrictive then F'in Collectors plate's . . .
HMV = can only drive it to show's, meets or in parades or short trip operation for maintenance purposes . . .
COL = can't drive in the month of Jan can't haul over 500lb's . . .
This above truck and my Current MV the 1953 Studebaker M275 unregistered other then the "HMV" plates . . .
My choices are:
1. parade / show.
2. yard/lawn decoration.
3. use it as a farm tractor.
4. Recycle it.

Well WI voted to BAN Military vehicles from the road road way's they can on be plated with Historic Military Vehicle plates and used for meets and parades . . .
So that shoot this in the tail, it also means my 53' Stude M275er is now only worth scrap to me . . .
