  1. I'm still working on a EGR system removal kit. Got the Mass Flow ECM plug with attached resistors to fool the ECM. The ECM will think that the EGR temp and flow are correct. Got the resistors from Radio Shack . Just been super busy around here. Boss man said I could try it out on one of the 04's when I get ready.

you know there bad when a dealer is willing to donate an 04 for testing

  2. If it aint broke, dont fix it! But, I would stay on top of the fix or bypass for future reference. What year did they start using this?

your a lucky man to have puchased a pre emission truck. pay close attention to anything to do with egr or pfd or uria injection, because one of these day's you will want to trade if you go 03 or newer do plenty of research, and then dont do it, keep rebuilding your 98 till you retire

just remember 03,04,05, are not worth the rubber they are rolling on!

i got a feeling that when mackpro gets this perfected and marketed he will be retiring on his own island.

  4. there are crazy old guy's out there who still think its the 70s thet've got junk ass dump trucks that they run on onsite jobs if you work cheep enough they don't care about your age license or anything else cut your teeth like us oldtimers and you will appreciate it a lot more

    just my opinion.

  5. That lightning bolt (electronic malfunction) light might be a tough one to find. I had a new 2000 CH with the 460 in it and I used to get them all the time. But mine would actually shut off for a split second while driving down the highway (just the same as if you turned the key off and back on). Engine and all electronics would shut down. Brought it to dealer many times, no codes. They went through all the wiring, even changed all the little pins in the ecm plug. Even had the service manager come on a trip with me to catch it in the act. Had his computer plugged in and the darn truck ran perfect that day.

Last year I came across the new owner of this truck and asked him how it's been. Said he loves the truck, but asked me "has it ever shut off on you before? It does it all the time."

i had a 1998 ch did that took months to find it was gas pedal piece of grit in servo. i never use air hose to blow the floor board clean, vac only.

  6. that is a good lookin ch, i see you are new to this forum, ive only been here about 3 months, but have learned every body has good input on problems, but when fjh or mackpro68, makes a sugestion, take it serious, they are very sharp on this internet machanic stuff.

every body on here has helped me. good luck with your fan prob. im sure it will be something cheap and simple. haha, nothing about trucks cheap or simple.

  7. got there a day early snuk in found it on the wash rack. holy cow what a pos looks like it fought it's way to a 25th place finish at bristol, drive it like you stole it takes on new meaning here.

don't know why im hanging around til tomarow, 1500 mile round trip, food, motel. this truck was advertised as sharp ready to work. not run in the ground.

  8. thats a very nice Truck. looks better IMO also..I sure hope it works out better for you. post up some pics after you get it home.

    Trent

if it rides, drives and is as quiet as my 2004 cx i will be happy. im still worried about emission system. if i can get 200,000 miles trouble free, i will again be a mack lover, but this is their last chance, mine too. if this one is like the last one ,it will put me under.
