  1. Wow that sounds really handy.Taking them out of a Hino double drive is a lot more involved than that...but then when I was doing them it was for full rebuilds so if your not taking them apart then thats the way to go... Paul
  2. Yeah I totaly get you there.I am the very same.. just want it to be spot on.I was just pointing out it is a big job but its great satisfaction to know its done.I was inquiring about Camelback parts for our Cruiseliner and I was told theyre still availible. Our truck is plated for 150ton operation so it would be same as yours maybe??? Paul
  3. This is something we might have to face with our Cruiseliner. We have 24in spoke tube type wheels but cannot get tyres for them.We can get 24in tubeless tyres but our tyre depot wont put them on split rims and new tubes cant be got too...at least not in Ireland. Paul
  4. Welcome to BMT.That is a really nice looking truck.Good luck with it.Nice job you have...... Paul
  5. I have never done a Mack camelback suspension but i'v done a lot of Hino rear suspension which is very similar.(almost a copy with a few small differences in my opinion). It is very heavy work and a lot of lifting gear, forklift, jacks and cribin is needed as well as an inch air socket tool.As Mechohaulic said its a great oppertunity to check all the wear parts and do a great paint job.Good luck with it and if you do it put plenty of pictures. The truck looks great by the way... Paul
  6. Thanks Jojo, well i can only say the same for you.The help and encourgement we got from you and others on here is amazing. Our Cruiseliner would not even be driving yet only for you.Maybe we'll have a few cols beers someday... Paul
  7. The Irish turn up every where!!!We are a small nation..... Paul
  8. Macks dont have a big presence in Ireland even though Macks were assembled in Dublin in the 1970s.As of now i only know of 3 other Macks here.I am trying to find if there are any more. There were quite a few here back in the 70/80s but most were worn out or exported. We imported our Cruiseliner from the UK.Thats a nice story about your granparents, plainly good people.County Cavan is not far from us here.About 18miles to the Cavan border.Wexford is about 80miles away.Local by U.S.standards!!! Paul
  9. Ah yes the Steyr,Very similar cab to the Kamaz. In fact its so close i wouldnt be shocked to find its the same cab shell as i think they had an agreement at one time.what engine does it have? Paul
  10. You have some really interesting trucks there.the sandy coloured cabover you have is it a KAMAZ?...It looks like one iv seen on a visit to Ukraine back in 2019.. Paul
  11. Welcome to BMT..yeah this is an interesting resto.old model cab on newer frame.im really hooked already to see how this one goes.best of luck with it and keep the pictures coming. Paul

  13. James, dont worry about the state of the shop.most shops get untidy at times.the chassis looks well restored and painted.the cab looks solid..much much worse has been restored.....pictures help get problems solved.good luck its a lovely project. Paul
  14. Yes keep posting it'll keep you going at the restoration and help get through the days when nothing seems to be going well.as steve.s said you have the attention of old Mack fans around the world.keep up the good work you have started. Paul

  16. Hi all,I'd like to tell you of something that happened to me yesterday but first a bit of background to the story.Ireland is a very small country pop.about 4million people.Every year soccer clubs around the country compete for the FAI cup the highest trophy in the game here.Winning it is equal to a team winning the Super Bowl in the U.S. Drogheda the city were we live has a club called Drogheda United Football Club(DUFC) who won the trophy on the 10th of Nov leading to great celebrations in the city. Now to get to see the trophy is great but to touch it is an honour most dont get.One of my good friends, who lives beside me,his daughter is Public Relations Official for DUFC.Yesterday I was out cleaning and polishing the Cruiseliner when both my friend and his daughter came over and shoved the cup in my hands and said "smile"...The following picture says it all.To have the cup,our Cruiseliner and me in the same photo is something i'll never forget.Hope you all enjoy the story.... Paul
  17. Its an absolute beauty.I like your term "east coast Cruiseliner" nice one that...... Paul
  18. Great.I'll order that valve.many thanks to you and mrs Mack for your help. Paul
  19. There doesnt appear yo be any shims on it at the moment but that doesnt mean a new one wont need to be shimed.I did see how to work out the shims needed but I forget..do you or anyone else know? Thanks Paul
  20. Thats it ok Paul...thanks.My son was looking it up too but we didnt come across that.maybe we just used the wrong description....thanks Paul
  21. Wow those Cruiseliners are something else.Is that you on the video talking about the Cruiseliner?.The E9 Cruiseliner interior is exactly the same as our Cruiseliner except ours is blue.they really are some trucks.... Paul
  22. Yes I do notice that the exhaust is clean after the turbo spools up and the engine produces very little smoke if i ease the the power on instead of just flooring it. Paul
  23. Is cylinder wash a problem without this working? Iv no experence with Mack engines and im getting advice from two sides...one says I dont need it and one says ill do damage to the engine because of cylinder wash from overfueling.....thanks for your input by the way... Paul
  24. When we were looking for a cabover we almost bought an Astro but passed because we really wanted a Cruiseliner.the Astro is a hell of a truck too.they look really well. Paul
  25. Wish ya got a picture too!!! I got a message yesterday of a Cruiseliner for sale in New York state.its rough but running and driveing.6000 dollars asking price.... Paul
