@steve s. so thankful he was able to share about the trucks and the profession he loved. He talked about this forum to his wife and many times referenced several folks as wonderful friends.

@High Binder thank you so much for your kind words. I am so thankful his words moved you so strongly. Glenn had strong convictions about work, life, and about God.

I regret to inform his favorite online group that Glenn Akers from Mounds, Oklahoma passed away on March 28, 2023 from cancer at 78 years old.
Glenn was a lifetime master diesel mechanic that loved God with everything within him. He was a wealth of knowledge to all that knew him. He seemed to be able to fix the unfixable and solve the unsolvable when it came to trucks. He loved Mac Trucks, but definitely loved all big engines and equipment.
Glenn beat many illnesses along the way as he functioned with a half of lung from myasthenia gravis and a paralyzed diaphragm. He beat out Covid in 2021 and the nurse said he did better than everyone on the ICU floor. He was the hardest working man I had ever met. He cried more over not being able to work than he did the cancer diagnosis.
Glenn was able to pass at home with his family praying and singing hymns around him. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, we are setting up a gofundme account for his widow to help as she carries on without her best friend.

Glenn Akers Passing
in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion

@fjh and @doubleclutchinweasel. Your words have meant so much to our family. We had about 15 truck drivers that he worked with show up at the funeral. Not many folks get to do the work they love until they are 78 years old. We were blessed to have him in our lives.
