  1. That is a nice looking truck. Congrats on the win. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. BC Mack, It is a b model and it might be difficult to find a good replacement. If I need to replace the spindle and can't locate one I will look for a place that can chrome it for me. Thanks for the information. Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  3. To All, The bearings and cones look good with the exception of some galling on the inner bearings where it meets the wear ring. I found a set of wear rings and will get them installed tomorrow. I suspect that the groove on the bottom of the spindle is not as bad as I originally thought. I think there is a bur there that is making it look and feel more significant than it it is. I will file the bur off and assess the issue with a clear head. So what is the cause for this kind of wear-- bearing too loose or too tight? Trenton Thank you for the information. 4. Hi folks, I have a front spindle that has noticeable wear where the outer bearing sits. The wear is on the underside underside of the spindle. The wear ring is also less than perfect. Is there a repair method for the spindle? Is it acceptable to repair it or is replacing it a must (its a hobby truck)? What is the cause for this type of wear on the spindle and the ring? Appreciate your input. Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  6. It's interesting to read that MACK installed them on the drivers and ran the right side airline around the back of the cab. The airlines would be far from equal length with that set up. I took the earlier advice and have mounted my quick release/limiting valve on the front cross member. Thanks for the input. Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  7. To All, Thank you for the quick response. I will mount it on the front cross member as suggested. Thanks again Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  8. Hi folk, I need to install the airlines and quick release valve for the front brakes on my b61. Where should I install the quick release valve? The guy at the parts store told me that it needs to be located some place where both airlines to the chambers will be the same length. The only place I can see where that would be possible would be on the firewall under the windshield washer motor. Where are they normally installed on a b model MACK? I Appreciate any help you can give me. Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  9. Thomastractorsvs, I am fortunate to have a couple of different heavy equipment suppliers in my area and should be able to locate the seals now that I have the correct part number. Thanks again for you help. Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  10. ThomasTractorsvc Thank you for the parts number for the seal. I very much appreciate it. Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  11. Hey everyone, Thank you all for the good advice. I am in the process of cleaning the grease out and washing them up with Zep purple degreaser. After that I plan to use stripper to get most of the paint off and a wire brush on my angle grinder to clean them up a bit more. I'll wash them again with the degreaser and use my power washer to make sure I've gotten all the grease and grit out. I plan to dry them with a rag and compressed air but I am sure glad that one of you mentioned not to use compressed air on the bearings. By the way- I can't locate the same type seal that I've taken out of the truck do any of you know off hand what type will work in a Dayton hub off of a b 61? All your advice is much appreciated Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  12. Thanks for the advice 84superdog. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  13. Hey folks, I need to clean up my front hubs and through a coat of paint on them. I would also like to clean up the wheel bearings before I reinstall them. What is the safest way of cleaning wheel bearing? Can I wire brush and power wash the hubs without fear of damaging the inner races with grit and rust? Thanks in advise for your help. 14. Thank you all for the advice. I got both of them out yesterday and will start hunting for replacement seals next week. To be honest I don't believe I have ever seen a brass punch before - I will have to go looking for one or machine one for future use. Mike, My be model did not have brakes on the front axle when I bought it. I found all the parts I need to install the brakes on the axle and I am now in the process of getting everything cleaned up and installed. Trenton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
