Interested in Macks. Been driving trucks since the 1960's. First Class 8 was an LTL for a tanker company. Also drove a few F models.
OO for while hauling petroleum, but the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973-74 cost me that gig. Gave the bank my Peterbuilt for what I owed and moved on. Had to work a year to pay for what I owed for tires and stuff from suppliers.
Was out of the game for many years, but kept my license. In the 1980's I was working in engineering part time and got a harvest season job for a wine grape grower here near Sonoma. Worked the harvest for him for 15 years.
Last truck was a 1974 K-100 with less than 300K actual miles. He bought it used from a guy retiring. Ran it as his personal truck until he built a long nose Pete for himself and let me have the K-100. Nice ride.
Member of AHTS. Looking at maybe doing a '75 Cruiseliner as a fun project if I can find a decent starting chassis. Thinking of converting it to Gas to mess with CARB and CA DMV ... No smog, no DEF, no diesel restrictions by air basin, nada ... Just an idea, but could grow legs ...
