  1. I was tanking for Diamond Tank Lines in Calif in the 1970's when this was a new spec engine. We had two trucks with V903's. They were OK, but not the pick for long uphill hauls into the Sierra's. My Pete had an I6. But the VT903'a would run fine on the flat and coastal hills. We also had one V8 Mack and that was the cats meow ... Later I was in marine engineering for NOAA. We had some Uniflites with twin VT903's that ran really well. Over 7,500 hours that I was aware of. They love constant speed operation and lots of cooling water 🙂 I wouldn't mind having one in a ATHS truck for show and fun ... Maybe a '78 Fruitliner cabover with a sleeper ...
  2. I forgot to mention that while I was an OO, I used to deliver gear and motor oil to the Mack plant in Hayward Calif. Fond memories of going through their bone pile (reject parts). It was not far from the underground oil tanks. So I could stroll around looking st parts while the oil was dropping into the tanks.
  3. Great story. Good on you for saving the old girl. It'll be fun to be the only Cruiseliner at a truck show 🙂
  4. Interested in Macks. Been driving trucks since the 1960's. First Class 8 was an LTL for a tanker company. Also drove a few F models. OO for while hauling petroleum, but the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973-74 cost me that gig. Gave the bank my Peterbuilt for what I owed and moved on. Had to work a year to pay for what I owed for tires and stuff from suppliers. Was out of the game for many years, but kept my license. In the 1980's I was working in engineering part time and got a harvest season job for a wine grape grower here near Sonoma. Worked the harvest for him for 15 years. Last truck was a 1974 K-100 with less than 300K actual miles. He bought it used from a guy retiring. Ran it as his personal truck until he built a long nose Pete for himself and let me have the K-100. Nice ride. Member of AHTS. Looking at maybe doing a '75 Cruiseliner as a fun project if I can find a decent starting chassis. Thinking of converting it to Gas to mess with CARB and CA DMV ... No smog, no DEF, no diesel restrictions by air basin, nada ... Just an idea, but could grow legs ...
