  1. Uh oh.....My CX has a Meritor 10 speed....I usually run light, less than 60,000 doubles. I don't know much about them. I am used to Fuller 13's or I just got out of a Mack 9 OD that was a reman I put in a million miles ago. What issues can you send me into a panic about??????????
  2. Neat looking trucks!!!!! If memory serves, Waste Mgmt tried a setup like that on some of their MB's for trash trucks........I know they had the steerable lift axles too........
  3. Thanks Rob!!!!! I belong to several radio related forums and these things are a great place to learn, opinionize and goof off!!!!!
  4. Back in the early '90s I was driving a Pete with a 365 Cummins(sorry I didn't know any better!!!!) in it across the desert out of Barstow CA. The turbo blew and set the air cleaners on fire and as I was pouring water into the air cleaners a Schneider team stopped and helped me wrench the air cleaners off so the truck wouldn't burn down. They used their fire extinguisher and really helped prevent a disaster. Those guys were a big help!!!! It changed my attitude for a good while about drivers helping each other. I'm afraid though, that that is the exception rather than the norm now. I hear the cussing, stupidity, and other crap. Most times I don't even have my radio on. You really see it when you are trying to get any kind of info such as traffic conditions or directions. I have been driving for 20 years now. I drive to get there safely, conserve as much fuel as possible and save my equipment. You can usually tell the newbies out there. they are caught up in the "supertrucker" mentality. They wonder why their boss is not giving them a raise when they are getting 4-5 MPG when if they slowed down to even the speed limit, the fuel cost and maintenance costs would help the bottom line!!!!! And of course, you can tell them nothing.......
  5. Greetings all!!!!! My name is Dave, CB handle Bulldog, and I've been a Mack convert for the last 9 years. My first Mack was a 1995 CH613. It was all Mack, with the 350, 9 speed OD and 387 rears. I put a million three on it and just retired it in November. We put a '93 350 in it 4 years ago because I just plain wore the original motor out........ My present 'Dog is an '03 CX613 with the PRE EMISSIONS 427 and a Meritor 10 speed and rears. What a difference in the two trucks. I am really impressed with the 427. Lots of power and the ride is outstanding. It is getting 6.8 mpg on winter blend pulling doubles for Fed EX Ground. I'll be nosing around in here to see what I can do to make my new 'Dog last as long and do as good as my first one. Also, I kinda have a dream of getting ahold of a Superliner do do a project truck........Someday......... So, Everybody have a Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!
