Now whats not to like about this truck, its a very attractive truck. This talk of cabovers being less safe, you guys that favour this idea, fine, you ever think that you have a  great lump of engine block in front of you to come crashing back into your lower body? bonnet, mudguards crumpling up to alter, re design your facial looks? Its  pot luck how anyone fares in any vehicle accident regardless of your style of truck.

At least with a cabover, you'll be the first one to the scene of the accident!

  2. Hi again everyone ,I am  looking to purchase a 1993 cl 713 Mack .it has a 425 cat,13 speed and 4.42 Mack rears on camelback springs. is this a good set up to pull Michigan gravel trains.(grossing 154000). My concern is that it won't go fast on freeway.are the 4.42s to steep? Truck is original to my knowledge.

How fast do you want to go with a Michigan train? With an overdrive 13 you should be good for 70 mph. And the Mack 4.42s are bulletproof.

Correct.   But just for arguments sake, "IF" there was enough volume of ice above the surface, that it "could" actually raise the level.  But, like I said, I highly doubt that.
The whole scenario with a glass of water hinges on the fact that the ice does not fit well, with all the voids around the cube helps the glass from overflowing when melted.  But, if you could stack it high enough over the rim that it could actually overflow when melted.

I learned in grade school science that water is an odd compound, in that it is in its most dense as a liquid. Ice has a lot of airspace that disappears when it melts. Water takes up less space than ice.

Only if you could stack enough ice above the top of the glass could it overflow.  I don't know who much ice is above the current water line of the continents but I doubt enough to flood everything.

Most of an iceberg is under the surface already.

So do ours.  But I'm 6'2" and with seatbelt on its all I can do to reach  it.  Our volvos are mounted all the way by the passenger side A pillar. Only way to reach them is to unbuckle and walk across cab.

That doesn't make any sense?!? Should be within driver's reach.

They are shock activated.    Once set off it saves 8 seconds before and 4 seconds after.    It takes some kind of jar to set off hard braking, bump in road, quick turn or something along those.      If it would  have been recording it could have got details on the oncoming car.

Dash cams we have at work have a "panic" button the driver can manually save an event. The footage 30 seconds previous is saved, until you manually stop it.

  7. I agree with your assessment, Kevin, that the travel ban as written is a silly attempt at politically correct lip service. The order should include all those nations that you list, or none at all. But that does not mean it is unconstitutional. The President is well within the law to limit immigration in the name of safety and security. Funny how British authorities made several arrests within 24 hours of the London bridge attack. It seems we know who these assailants are, but fail to act before it is too late. What about an ounce of prevention? That is all our president is trying to do. Leave PC to the curb, the Muslim extemists already discriminate against all of us, they wish us dead.

  8. I'll never forget I saw a seven axle rig like that years ago in Virginia, asked the driver how much can you haul with all those axles, he said "18 ton"?!?
That seems crazy to me too much trouble for 18 ton... When you can legally gross 80,000 lb. on 4 axles in NJ. States need to get together on their configurations.

The major effects of the early 80s standards was the end of the bigger naturally aspirated diesels. Sure you don't want to lose that expensive and troublesome turbo?

I drive my F model 673P so I can save wear and tear on my turbo MH.

I would respect your knowledge, Ron, but I thought they went along with the R+3 in mid-'73? Was that also the introduction of the 86" cab?

My 1970 F parts truck had a steel dash painted olive green.

OK, hopefully we have finally laid communism to rest. Now you're telling me you want polluted water, unsafe food, overpriced energy, no education, and slave labor?

Yes I want all those things. Remove all the warning labels and let natural selection run its course.
