You're right. Though always in the shadow of the world's best truck, Scania
Volvo will never reach Scania's level
Do you think VW (Traton) will keep Scania as their premium brand..??
Or will they cross pollinate It into a Prostituted "Legacy" Brand like has happened to Mack?? & to a lessor extent Western Star..!!

Those L series Fords Were a DAMN fine Truck..
I've had 7 of 'em over the years, From a '76 LN7000 right through to a late LTS9000 ..In fact I still have a couple.
One with 3 & 1/2 Million Kms & still earning her Keep,
I keep telling my Wife , When It's working days are over I'm parking at the Front Gate ,Wind a window down a bit & use It as A mail box,
Then Finally I'm going to be buried in It..

I like Hino, but that is a clumsy looking truck. The cab and hood don't match.....they're not proportional. Looks like a 48-hour project. Horrible execution.
Is that just a 500 series Hino with the Cab moved back & a bonnet (Hood) fitted??? Al la "Strator"
or is It a bit more involved than that??

Not sure what operating procedure or willingness to risk an officers life is in Australia, but in the USA if a knife wielding car bomber comes running at a police officer, knife raised, the officer will go for the lead pills and skip the 30 second dodge-n-dance? Then again a brown banana has gotten a lot of people killed here.
They're scared sh*tless of "Trial by Media" both Social & MSM
But I'm with You. They NEED to make a few examples of some of these Zealots, might just stop the next copycat glory seeker..

Great sound but why is he dropping so many gears with an empty lowboy?
'cause It's a 'ken Steep bit of road...
It averages out at (I think) at 10% incline for the 10-12 mile climb. But In places it's 17-18% grade..
