  1. I will give the guy credit for his imagination and talent for the work that's been done. But for practicality and value when finished-zero.

This harkins back to the day's of show cars like the Boot Hill Express-pretty worthless and silly. A waste of a 57 KW. IMO

What so far is the outcome of the a car search? Is it for sale?

Are you referring to me? If so yes that 65 is for sale, But the frame rails are real bad shape and the windows were left down. And the floor boards

are in real bad shape plus the windshield opening under the gasket is not good. It would take a ton of work to save that cab.

Judging from the dust collecting on the fan belts (and price tag), that A-model may have found its grave..... :(

What's he want for it anyway?

I didn't talk price because 900 longhoods are always heirlooms in the owners eyes.  4 States Truck parts sells a new 74" hood for $2,890.

A standard W900 hood is 63". You can build a W900A out of a W900 buy moving the cab back 11" and installing the new hood. It's not

                                    that difficult and allot cheaper.

Interesting rubber block arrangement on the rear suspension never seen one quite like it!

That center block up's the rating to 48,000 lb, that suspension is RS480

  4. When I was out looking at some old critters this last Saturday I found a farm with an assortment of KW's. In the bunch is this 79 W900A longhood. 3408 cat, twin counter shaft Spicer brownie with 13sp and some real tough rear drives-DT480P Eatons. It got laid over in a ditch with a loaded lowboy, put a kink in left rail and distorted the top of cab. He will sell it, but for too much.

what was the outcome of that experience ?

In short no title, so I parted it out. 52 Dodge PW.  The bad thing about that is, It's one less whole PW rolling around. In Washington St, It's worse

If the paper work is not perfect when you go to the court house to re-title a vehicle expect a major hassle. And to get a vehicle inspected by the

state patrol the waiting list could be 2 to 4 months depending on their log of inspections. And hope the inspector isn't having a bad day.

  6.                                                 It's an estate sale so the person in control has to take the serial number to Oregon DMV and see If the last owner on record was

the deceased man that actually owned it.  Been down that road once. Other wise I would buy it.

And remember, since 2014, Eaton is offering a 3-year warranty on their reman transmissions (which also gives you a 3-year clutch warranty in that "bundle"). You can't knock that with a stick.

You left out the five gallon pail of 50wt synthetic lube that goes with that Eaton trans and clutch deal.

  8. Eaton charges $1,500 against any up grade so does Weller.  So whatever the core is worth just subtract 1,500. And in some cases even more for early type main cases with the 1 1/4 fill plug. Eaton has been destroying those early cases, they won't reuse those anymore.

  9.                                         I have done over seventy frame stretch jobs through the years. The minim length for inside rail when I do a lengthening is six foot and that

depends on where the crossmembers are going and suspension will set, some are 7 & 8 foot. I spend allot of time on fit-up where the two

rails meet and preheat rail before welding. I use a six 5/8 flange bolts at the joint and like to have a crossmember at that joint.  I only use

flange bolts for fasteners. Plus I use car reamers for final size. Inside rail should fit tight.

  10. The injector sleeves are steel and sealed by two o-rings. When they leak it will put fuel in the cooling system and coolant in the fuel. When installing the sleeves the o-rings should have a thin coating of Cat green loctite applied to them. Was it a Cat reman head that was used? The C-15 can develop small cracks around the exhaust seats and ports. If the spacer plate was cleaned with a 3M rol-lock it can distort the surface around the any port openings. Normally I reuse the spacer but I have replaced several. Was there only one steel shim gasket used under the spacer to block?  I have had two gasket sets where there were two shim gaskets pressed together. Those gaskets are .009 thick and only one can be used. The other thing was the block cut for shims under the liners? I have found most need to be cut for shims and several blocks get all Six cut. If you have three low liners you may as well cut the other three and be done with. Other wise you will be back in that engine fairly soon.

  11. Heck that guy hadn't even got to the good stuff yet. We have 13 DD15's in our fleet of 48. Air compressor is located on the left side at bell housing and the power steering pump is driven off the compressor. Starter is on right side. The belt tension-er is one piece and keeps tension on both belts and is a bitch to release to install the alt/ac belt which also drives the water pump. Tension-er is $185 with a $50 core. The filters are all cartridge and you have to change the oil and filter, build oil psi first before changing fuel filters or it could throw a fault code. Now the up side- 7.5 mpg at 100,000 GVW, and will start at the drop of a hat at -5* with good fuel of coarse. And it has extremely strong engine brake. And very few internal issues.

  12.                                   IIRC in a 1969 issue of Hot Rod mag they had a shoot out between the 390 AMX, Z28 and Boss 302. The AMX torched both-the Z28 and the Boss in 1/4 mile runs.

As a matter of fact they had to resort to M&H's on the Z and the Boss to break 100 mph.

  13.                                        A major culprit in the job market is inflation. Young people a can see that in order to own a house these days you need a high paying job

especially in large cities. The inflated property and housing market is partially to blame, and where will it stop. There are many factors

to blame for the lack of qualified  workers, besides the thought young people just don't want to work.  The house I live in was built for

around $7,000 in 1949. It's assessed value by the county is $180,000 now and if I listed it a realtor told me it would be listed at $215,000.

I have no plans to sell nor would want to. Sorry folks but I find that increase asinine. I'm sure I will be torched.

  14.                                     If it does it without the clutch on a shift, I would be looking elsewhere. How many miles on the clutch and transmission?  The centers of the driven disc's

could be having a problem though.
