  1. Just got of the phone with someone at International. The new Paystar will be unveiled to dealers next week. Can you say Cat truck. It will have many of the changes Cat made to the 5600i as customers have been asking for them. New hood, interior and some multi-plexed wiring.

Gotta say though.....I am going to really miss the outgoing 5600i style. Not sure if they are going to keep the 5900i Paystar models that have the 9900i and 9400i hoods.

  2. Didn't think I had to post links with this "top secret" information. I guess it's all false then. I made it up.

But interesting to note that everything you post is always posted first on their weekly email updates they send out. Sometimes even word for word. LOL.

You better go after them....they are stealing your info before you post it, LOL.

  3. It's been in Today's Trucking and Truck News the last couple weeks. VW says they want to become the largest in the world. Also says the Navistar deal isn't off the table yet either.

  4. That's why I was very disappointed the Maxx didn't work out......as you say, the MAN version did very well. I figured they had a winner with MAN behind them. I guess they just pushed the EGR too far??

Any word on how they are doing now with the Cummins SCR on them?

  5. Logtruckman....that 15L is the C15 with Int/MAN fuel and air systems. It is discontinued, so those are the mass egr left overs. The Int. and Cat people told me they can't give them away. People don't want a discontinued engine.

Cat was supposed to get three truck models and two engines out of that deal....but now they have one truck, one engine. And now they're even more unhappy because that 13L has Cummins emissions system on it.

  6. Was at a big industry show today. Went over to the Caterpillar rep to rib him. Asked how they like those Cummins parts on their Cat engines, that are really Maxxfarces.

I asked if the rumours are true of Cat's return to the on road truck engine business. He said he can't say, but winked and nodded his head. Said there will be a big announcement in about 18 months. Also said they are breaking their ties with International as the partnership didn't really work out, but they own the rights to that Paystar cab, so they are going to build their own truck under it.

But he didn't say any of this.

Doesn't sound like we will get M-drive in vocational trucks yet either. The Allison deal has been extended. Said they can install one in a Granite if a customer REALLY wanted one, but they have to get lots of approvals, even from Allison.

  7. I've seen two split the crank and block in half with the power I mentioned. But they were company drivers. They will make that power....you just can't use it all, all the time.

Don't need to go that extreme anyway. My old E-6 350 would do anything a STOCK 475 Cat/ 500 Detroit would do with just a good pump tune. But it was geared pretty low though too.

  8. 485, then they break in half if you are not paying attention pulling any kind of hill. At least that was my experience when I ran them. At that setting the engine and exhaust temps would skyrocket very quick if you got into a big hill pulling heavy and you'd have to back off it.

That was on an 88 E-6 350 4 valve by the way.

  9. My Detroit has been bulletproof. But the truck did have a lot of little cosmetic build quality issues. Don't know if mine was built on a bad day, but never had flaws like that in the old ones. Nothing that affected it's performance....just annoyances for what it cost. Like grill bars that had no rivets, and lots of marks and scratches in the interior. Crappy, hard to service cab air filters, and it had the wrong engine fan and rad mounts installed. But the dealer and factory rep replaced those quick. But they weren't concerned about all the flaws in my interior. Maybe I'm too picky?

Around here they are same price as a Mack.

  10. A lot of mine didn't have cab sheids either RFCDrum. I've only been on one job, (a big dig in the local steel mill) where they made us get out of the truck while loading if we didn't have one. I couldn't understand that either.......I would feel safer in the cab, than standing outside in a hardhat, lol.

    Thanks for the compliment.
