Having a problem occasionally shifting into 3rd gear on a t2180. When you put it into gear, sometimes it doesn't engage and makes a grinding jumping sound. I find that if I go back to neutral then shift back, more often then not it engages. once in a great while, it will do it under heavy load once it is already well engaged. It can do it in both high and low split. Does anyone know what can cause this? The transmission has very low miles on it since rebuild.

If you haven't found what you need yet, call Florida Powertrain, tell them what you have and what you want to run, and they will set you up. It will be at your door within days.

Melnick metal works in Ct can make them. You need the later domed fender for a 34. I am not sure if they or anyone else has a buck(pattern) for one of those or if it would need to be built.

There is no kit. You need to swap the expansion valve, receiver drier, and compressor. You will need to get or make a bracket for a sanden compressor.

A quick tell tale difference between an FW and an FT is the FW has an eight spoke rear hub and and FT has a six spoke.

I may be wrong, but this appears to be an FT.

Does the air range shifting on the T2180 18 speed transmission work on full 120 p.s.i pressure or is there a regulator on them?

Im not disputing the weight at all as I have never even seen one of these motors and most likely never would, I just imagined it would of been heavier given the era it was made, Macks were obviously fairly advanced even back then
Learning new things every day, thank you
Paul
While I can't say I have weighed one, The block is aluminum.

Agreed, if a turbo is spinning as described it would mean your missing most if not all of you motor internals

at least missing an exhaust manifold.

It doesn't look like it has heavy rears. Six bolt cones are 44k so if it is in fact an sx the rears have been changed. Also that truck weighs 16-18k all day long.

I don't think he is the seller. Just passing along an eBay listing he found....

Every Rw753, rw653 (cat powered) that I have seen, the engine is backed with an Eaton fuller transmission.

Good- I always thought.....20" tube type, equals 22.5 tubeless, 22" tube type= 24.5 tubeless, 24" tube type-you are out of luck
By the way your Sumitomo's must have been someones old stock as they don't list 11R-24 on web site.
Sure they do. Search for Sumitomo ST508.

Btw, Tomorrow I am going to take some pictures that will put this 24.5 on R24 thing to bed. Tubeless 24.5 spoke size is the same as R22 tube type. The spoke on r24 is 2 inches to large to fit a 24.5 wheel on it.

Nice-and where are those made? I have Bridgestones on my front axle -I thought they still made an 11:00R 24?
Joseph's Equip has been advertising that they have a bunch of 12R 24 Goodyears. Price of course is not published.
Sumitomo are made in Japan. Bridgestone discontinued the 11.00r24 and like Michelin, now only make a 12.00r24. The tires, or should I say tyres Brian has advertised are 325/95r24 which I guess are 12.00r24 equivalents for the international market. He texted me a bunch of pictures the other day, but I never asked what he was asking as they don't have the traditional thread pattern I like.

I just bought 10 Sumitomo st508 in 11.00r24. Pretty much the only good option left.

When ever I turn on an accessory (heat/ac,Lights, etc.) the volt gauge plunges. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? Ground issue?
Thanks

brought $115k plus buyers premium, so $126,500.

wouldn't that cause the problem in every gear?
