China manufactures over 55 percent of the batteries Lithium-ion batteries used in cel phones, computers, tools, EV's, satellites and sadly even in most all of our military applications. In addition China close to 75 percent of our LiPo and conventional batteries. A trade war will have far reaching consequences with our military and our communication / computer usage. American business wholly or partially owned by China is staggering. Some are Smithfield Food, G.E. Appliances, Motorola Mobil, Anagang Insurance, IBM PC Business, triple H Coal, Delphi Corp, Hoover, Dirt Devil, Tele Dyne, Cheapeake Energy, 40% of PSEG, Cirrus Wind Energy, Blackstone Financial, Morgan-Stanley, Genworth Financial, Visa, Sheraton Hotels, Rosewood Resorts, Boston power, ITalk, Ingram Micro Systems, Pirelli, Quorum Systems and a large percentage of GM Global. This is only a very small list of U.S. companies not even including the European and the other parts of Central and South America.
Seems Corporate and Wall Street greed, sold a lot of our financial, communication and energy businesses down the river so to speak. Trade war for leverage? Not with out severe repercussions here. China has been busy with out being noticed.
China bashing has gone out of fashion every else in the world except the US.What every pragmatic Nation is doing is careful engagement with China in trade and even militarily in the case of third world countries.

Also curious that if she was rated "promotable" why was she passed over the SIXTY times she applied and did she receive an explanation why she was not promoted.Even if we do not sue most of us will have some reaction to that situation.

It is then possible that if Geely goes on to acquire Volvo Trucks the Mack brand might not just survive but also see a return to glory days as Geely will be a "neutral" owner and not drive an agenda of favoring one brand over another.
-
Well I am sure you are familiar with the Chinese proverb about the journey of a thousand miles starting with a single step. This might just be the start of Geely acquiring Volvo Trucks and by extension Mack.Watch out the Chinese are coming.
-
Does this mean Geely now has a stake indirectly in Mack?

Just read today about a company Pine Bluffs Sand and Gravel that has 3 tugs that run on the Mississippi River each with 6,000hp .

I got Teamstergrrl defensive, I should have known better from you.
The Haywood problem was described by John Montville, was what MACK Corporate described as California Casual work attitude.
Grummans problem was in 1963 / 65 was that as a defense contractor you are required to be diverse. Another problem was that the Stuart facility was originally making Agcat's for Grumman and went on line repairing and rebuilding crash damaged Mohawks from S.E Asia. The management structure was "good ole boy deep south" along with most of the crew, did not like working with or having a New Yorker or a person of color as their equal or boss.
The absentee problem for Stuart, was partially that the facility was on a canal and some of the crew and their bosses would go fishing at lunch and not return until the fish stopped biting. Grumman and the DOD replaced basically the entire managment and most of the employees.
You have earned more respect from me the way you accepted his equally commendable apology, some "children" here would have started a new theater of war.As to Teamstergrrl I am sure even you miss her once in a while.

You know I've got my views that I always stand by regardless of how you tag them.I asked that question because just before the elections on another thread we did discuss the accusations against Moore. We now know who the majority of the voters believed between the accusers and the accused unless of course you do not believe the allegations had anything to do with his loss, maybe more because of the support from Washington.
As to learning American politics ,ignorance is bliss so I am just fine where I am with it.

I always enjoy when a "bomb" question is asked.
No follow up questions from the original post. Must be just sitting in front of their computer giggling.
I really can't imagine that someone actually living in Nigeria would give a rat's ass as to what an election in Alabama says other than to stir the pot on this forum.
You obviously don't read me on this forum, you can ask Mack Technician. The world is one global village now. What happens in Benghazi North Africa matters to you why should what happens in Alabama not matter to me.Do you know if I have Family there?open your mind.

What does the election of Doug Jones say?

Strange how yours has the same damage around the latch opening that Ed and mine has with the big latch. Hmmmm. Is it a manufacturing flaw for all B dashes?
Well 50 years is a long time for a manufacturing defect to show.

There is no denying that China is now an technological giant with their advances in railways, ship construction, and everything hi-tech.China also still engages in barefaced theft of intellectual property partly because they are now the workshop to the world.I have seen Chinese cars that from 10 metres away you assume they are Mercedes sedans until you get close and discover they are Chinese clones with model names like XY45.TS7653K, to the i phones that are identical to the original except what is inside them.Nothing wrong in basing your diesel on the original Karl Benz design but also spend your money and ,burn the midnight oil in improving it ,that is why there are engines that still go strong 50 years later while some can not even make their own warranty period.

For the major Truck manufacturers that are in joint ventures with the global heavyweights like Iveco,Mercedes benz and Ford that could be said for them but the bulk of the market for now is held by the Local Chinese brands like Howo,Shacman,Dongfeng and any name they choose to call it they still practice Relevant and basic copy technology.Infact there is a blasphemous joke about a Chinese artisan asked if he knew Jesus Christ, he replied no but promptly added if you show me sample I can copy it.

That unit is so rare that a lot of people here don't even know about the model, those are the ones that all efforts should be made to save regardless of their condition.Just my opinion.
