  1. I'm sure the camelback weighs more than an airride, but if you are going to be doing any offroading or truck pulling I would recomend the camelback. We have both airride and camelbacks and do offroad and hiway hauling. The camelbacks do better in the dirt. If you decide to go with an airride make sure you install a differential lock. This seams to help them a little. :mack1:

  2. Not all V8's had 2 steering boxes. RW613's had single boxes, RW713's had dual steering boxes (V8 or 6). I have never changed a 6 to a V8 but I hear its a lot of work. You need to find a wreck or junk that has all the hardware. :mack1:

  3. I have a 1990 E9500 with a Dynatard and I think it does an excellent job of braking. If you forget to turn the engine brake switch off when you get out of the truck it will choke it down. It does better than my 1989 E7400 with a Jake Brake. But the power of an engine brake is relevant to the size of the pistons. The bigger they are and the more you got, the better the braking power!

  4. I have a t2090 in an '89 Superliner. The range synchro and clutch pack has been out 3 times. Mack upgraded these parts and the last 1 has lasted almost 4 years and still going strong. Since the last 1 was installed I changed the way I shifted. A Fuller 9 shifts L,1,2,3,4,5 on the low side and 6,7,8,9 on the high side. Shift a Mack 9 L,1,2,3,4 on the low side and 5,6,7,8,9 on the high side. This way the trans is turning slower when you shift from low to high range thus saving the clutch pack and synchro. :mack1:

  5. I have 2 EM6300's that I would like to put engine brakes on. How hard are these to find? One truck is a '89 and the other is a '90. Both are 4 valve engines. Can you put a Dynatard on these engines or do you have to use a Jake Brake? Does anyone have any on an old out of service engine that they would be willing to sell? Thanks! :mack1:

  6. First strip all the paint from your stock valve covers using a die grinder with a ScotchBrite wheel. Then find someone in your area that does metal finishing for chrome. All metal for chroming has to be polished, no scratches or marks. Once that cast alum. is preped for chrome it looks just as good. This is what I did on my E9. Once they are polished out maintainence is no harder than polishing a set of wheels or fuel tanks. The company I used for polishing was H&H Polishing in Charlotte NC. I don' have their phone # but you can probably get it from 411. I believe the cost was $30 or $40 per cover. Cheap enough to be stylin and profilin!
