When I start truck up in the morning air leaks from the air dryer causing air pressure not to raise past 30psi . I give a few taps with a 3lb hammer and the air leaks stops and pressure builds up and will work for the rest of the day occasionally I will have to tap dryer after I had been shut down wondering why it is happen how to fix maybe or should I just replace Mack told me the carry a smaller air dryer in place of the old long air dryer I currently have and said some plumbing or air hose might have to be done . I have 84dm688sx I had a rebuild on trans done I broke the main shaft on trans I had the same problem after rebuild brought back and it was leaking air bolt was missing installed bolt and it worked after that properly . Every once in a while it won't go I flip lever a couple times it will pop in check for missing bolts. does your truck drop air pressure quickly ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The transfer pump was a used pump I installed last year. Bought new pump from Mack

Got the truck up and running ,replaced fuel lines and transfer pump was bad. Bought new transfer pump from Mack $470 with tax . Up and running thanks for the responses and help.

How can I fix or diagnose this problem?

While driving on highway truck lost power press fuel pedal nothing happened truck stalled out . I then tried to start it wouldn't start unless I pressed fuel pedal almost to floor then it ran very rough idle shaking and wanting to stall out it would only stay running if I pulled throttle lever and kept it around 8,000 rpm . Any ideas I replaced transfer pump last year and fuel filters in August bad injector pump maybe I have been told fuel filters. I recently ran truck almost empty and used 2 5 gallon cans from crew truck to not run out . Then I filled up the following day. The symptoms briefly happened this past weekend truck ran fine then sat for 2 days . Thanks for any suggestions I also been getting a little puff of white smoke at startup

Well I have my answer broke down and brought truck to repair shop . The culprit was a bad transfer pump. A tow and $500 later truck will be up and running tomorrow. I would like to thank everyone who posted with ideas and suggestions it is greatly appreciated . Thanks again
