I like stock with tastefull upgrades that does not give to much modern look and I DO NOT like B models on anything else besides dayton wheels . My oppion every old truck looks good in my eyes with a set of Daytons painted two tone with axle chrome covers and nut covers just looks rugged . Also like period correct paint colors modern colors do not look right on old trucks just my opipions

Go with an e7 vs the mp engine . The e7 is a almost bullet proof engine and very dependable and will do just as well at pulling as larger competitor engines . As far as trans go in my oppion a 9 or 10 speed is all that is needed for your application . Eaton transmissions are a little easier to shift than Mack trans and easier to pull out when a clutch is needed . You would not be disappointed with an e7 powered of what ever Mack model strikes your fancy

I could go on for hours on personel in parts stores. I'll share a more recent one that happened to me I called my local napa store to get a starter for a ford e350 van 5.4 the guy on the phone asked me what an e 350 was , I said e stands for econoline and it is a van the next question was who makes that after in the beginning of the conversation I said ford e 350. Then he gets back on the phone and says they didn't make an e350 I only see e150 , I kindly told the guy I have one sitting here in front of me as well int he bay beside me I have an e 450 as well . He comes back with you looking for a starter drive ? I hung up the phone and called the store again and asked to talk to Dan the manager they said sure hang on I'll get him . He got on the phone and I said I don't mean to be rude but that new kid should not be answering telephone calls he should be back taping boxes or sweeping the floors . The one thing I have learned being a business owner is that common sense is not common anymore !,

I am looking at buying a 1982 RWS with an e9 400 v8 with a Mack 9 speed it is currently a dump truck with a 20' grain body on it.was originally a tractor day cab the truck overall is in good shape does have some minor rust hood is in good shape not broken anywhere and it has fresh recaps on the drives it is a tandem steer tires are new Virgin rubber. The only thing wrong with it is it dropped a valve seat in the left rear head a needs repaired which I can do just not sure what to offer the guy he told me to make an offer just not sure where to be any oppions ? I will post some pics when I go over to look at it again

I found this old gal on my parts route one day . I stopped in and talked to the guy and asked him about it , it has a 335 cummins and a quadra plex said it still runs good . Then he told me a cool story that the truck was originally bought brand new by Mary Kay's cosmetics and was one of the first fleet of trucks they had . I looked behind the grille and sure enough it was pink the whole truck was originally all pink . I thought that was pretty cool also I love the low air telltale that swings down fromt the roof I asked to buy it he said he would think about it

If the evap isn't filthy you can clean it put a new expansion valve and I always clean the heater box and and blow out the duct work. Also make sure you put on a new receiver dryer as well . Another trick I learned on the early red dot hvac systems is they did not come with a filter like the berg storm units in cx, cv etc and the dirt plugs up evap and you get hardly any air flow so before I Put the intake duct on the heater box on the passenger side I get one of those blue filters they use on the later models to protect the evap from dirt then when it gets dirty you only have to change the filter not clean the whole system again

My he heater core can come out without removal of the evap but not the other way around . I have done a lot of repairs on these systems have any questions let me know

I think we should start a poll on what series Mack truck is the most popular series when people hear the word Mack truck what comes to your mind ? I think in my opinion first place goes to the R series for sure even if your not a Mack enthusiast everyone knows the R series . Followed by the B series in second , then I think the CH series one of my personal favorites like em or not you can't deny there popularity

I so excited I got me my first steel dash R . I have wanted one for a long time everyone I came across was in poor condition or been modified by poor hands. This one is mostly all original still plumbed in copper air lines , positive ground that will be changed , none of the wiring gas been hacked up still has its original tailights , and the original seats . Runs like a top little endt 675 , sits in my shop for a week and does not leak a drop on the floor heck I have new trucks that I can't say that about . My boys and I ttake her for a drive around the countryside a couple times a week . I love it reminds me when I was a boy riding in trucks like that with my dad they were hardcore truckers is those days makes us love our modern trucks

My newest edition to my R collection . I found this in a local farm I was tipped by a local farmer the truck could be bought they talked to the local salvage yard first once i heard that I rushed right over and I said this can not be junked or parted out ill, take it . It has only had two owners since new and was never driven in the winter and is as solid as a rock absolutely no rusted out panels no pieces missing on the hood or dents in the sheet steel I'm so glad I saved this beautiful ole girl . Also if anyone could shed some light on what the foot valve is for on the firewall beside the clutch pedal I've never seen one before . It looks like it controls the air shutters ?
