im still not sold on them. even when they are "dressed up" they still look like a entry level plastic truck. The look of them are just not what I would want in a truck. the body lines are all wrong with the hood. it needs to be a little flatter on top and longer so that the engine is under the hood not the cab. the small hood with a engine stuffed under the cab just screams $$$$$ every time it needs a simple repair. The air tank set up is not pleasing to the eye. Stack location behind sleeper is good for aero but should have other options.

Engine location is no different than on an "old" pinnacle.

  2. I guess I dont really understand the financial markets, but I don't understand how a company that is making healthy profits, can be valued so low and have their bond rating lowered. How tesla is valued higher than Ford and GM doesn't make sense either to me, when Tesla makes a fraction of vehicles compared to either company.

  3. The problem isn't just the tariffs on imported materials, the domestic manufacturers are jacking up their prices as well. My uncle is a national sales manager for a large lift gate company and said that the U.S. steel manufacturers jacked up their rates when the tariffs were imposed since they don't have to compete with the lower priced import materials.

A 62T is a day cab, a 64 T is what mack calls regional haul /otr , day cab to 70plus inch sleeper.

Thats not 100 % correct. 62T is a tandem with a tag axle ie 2 drive wheels, 6 total wheels. 64T  is a tandem with two drive axles ie 4 drive wheels 6 total wheels. The T stands for tractor.

  5. When I was still working at michigan assembly, I was told by an engineer that the first couple year would be basic, then there would be a full redesign around 2020 or 2021 that would include more powertrain options. That could have changed by now though.

  6.

Saw a post on f@$&book from a mack dealer Inetwork Ohio that just delivered 5 brand new Titan lowboy tractors to a construction company... but yet there's no demand for those trucks. Smh

Talking to some people that work at LVO, they said that the Titan was discontinued because the MP10 couldn't meet the new emissions regulations.

  7. Made a lot of progress the last few months. Just need to get the seat done, and get it insured and plated and I'm gonna start driving it! I'll get the little things I have left done as I'm driving it.

agreed. my 65 289 with an edelbrock performer intake and carb and pertronix ignition, C4 trans, and 3.20 gears in the rear diff will get 25 mpg if i keep my foot off the gas.

I will be extremely pleased if I can even get into the double digits on mileage with this setup.

Outstanding Nick-first time I have seen your thread-but let me ad my congrats on a Ford in a Ford! Nothing hurts me more than to see say a nice 32 Ford with the distributor on the wrong end!:D

    Only thing?? A red 429?

I painted it red because the original flat head would have been red. The color is actually "Ford Red". I thought it would be a neat little tid-bit for the history of the truck. Plus red and black is my favorite color combination.

  10. Truck is very close to being road legal. I just moved to Michigan at the beginning of the summer, so it will be easier to get it on the road than if I was in still in PA.  Here are a few pictures, but if you follow the link from earlier, you can see more of what Ive done.

  11. I agree college isn't necessarily the best path for everyone and vocational skills shouldn't be dismissed. in the end though, everyone has a choice to make and have to weigh out the pros and cons and that's where parenting comes in. It seems to me that everyone has their hand out in some way shape or form and always wants someone else to pay for it since the world is t fair. This is coming from an uneducated truck driver in his mid 30's with no loans other than my mortgage which is nearly paid off, no vehicle loans and about $6k in a student loan through WF (my wife just started her first year teaching this year) which will be paid off this year. I'm not trying to toot my own horn but I want to make the point clear I live with in my means. I drive older used vehicles instead of new ones like most my friends, I don't go on trips or vacations unless I have cash to do so. I'm not looking for pity in fact I'm proud that I'm not in debt up to my eyeballs like most people I know. More people need to live within their means and see how freeing it is not working to just scrape by, to see how much more fulfilling life is when have to wait and save up to buy something. Just my two cents. Have a good one.

I completely agree with everything in your post. I'm going to have a good chunk of change to pay off starting this summer, and I plan on living scarcely until it is paid off. I hope to stay in a similar situation as you after that; little to no debt.

  12. Like the old saying goes, if everyone told you to jump off a bridge would you? I adimently disagree with your point. If you can't afford to pay it back don't borrow it. Sounds like the same excuse i heard when the housing market tanked. People didn't want to pay back the huge mortgage that was way beyond their means because at that moment in time they were upside down in it. Once again not my problem. You borrow it you pay it back.

I'm not saying they shouldn't pay it back, or that its not their fault for taking a loan they couldn't pay back. Even if they don't have the means, its still their responsibility to pay the loans back. I just think that with better information, and a different mind set in high school, we wouldn't be in the situation that we are in now. If from the time that you were in kindergarten you were told over and over again that college is the only way to success, to the point of guidance counselors actively steering people away from vo-tech, don't you think that at least a few of these kids were brainwashed? The culture has become so negative towards any kind of skilled labor that nobody wants to go into those fields anymore. I really admire people like Mike Rowe, because he is pushing something different than college, which is a better path for many people than a useless college degree.

All I'm saying is that if college wasn't pushed so hard, there wouldn't be as many kids with loans they never should have taken.
