  1. This system was developed in 1937 by Alice Chalmers tractors on their WD Siri I adopted it to my 1970 R608 fire truck and have put about 10,000 miles on it cents all the pictures did not go through but I used a 80s Chevy power steering pump and mounted it on the right side of my engine which is a 707 gas engine had a dump bed on it and satin steel with 10 turn on it and turn it lock the lock idling with one finger it’s a straight through design if you lose your power steering belt or hose it still has the straight through manual steering Surplus said he has these to work in duction motors junkyards will have the Chevy power steering pumps hope this helps or somebody trying to make it a little easier to steer their old truck I’ve trusted my life with it for 21 years I’m still here I’ll try to upload more pictures in a few minutes

  10. Hi I have a 70 R608 with the 707C engine and it melted the pistons on me twice ,do yourself a favor and weld in a bung at the exhaust pipe ,couple inches from where the steel pipe connects to the manifold and monitor your pyrometer and see how hot your running ,mine at 1800 RPM would go up to 1300° pretty quick and melted the Pistons ,still haven’t found the exact reason why ,water temperature does not go up ,just exhaust temperature pretty expensive to replace the pistons in that girl ,good luck
